mikeymike this sometimes is not true that one is old and the other is not. For example in my case I am not submitting a lot of photos of me and my husband (some very goofy showing really how very comfortable we are with each other) as when they were taken we were at home and in which photos I am not wearing hijab. So it may be a strike against us as well. I will be sending an explanation as to why, and if at time of interview they would like to see additional photos my husband will bring them however they can only be seen by a VO who is a woman.
So i dont understand if you are so specific about only a women VO seeing ur pics, why do you want to come to a country where these rules are not the norm? What will you do when u hv to take a picture for ur PR card? Health card? Would you then want only women assessing ur application?

And then whenthe country will ask u to follow their rules, you will get offended. I dont think thats fair. You are fighting to get here but u want it on ur terms.

Hello,

Jomz is actually the one sponsoring her husband to come to Canada... not the other way around. so she already knows how welcoming and accepting Canada is to different religions and ethnicities. I am also a Canadian born Muslim and thankfully, I have always been accepted for my religion and couldn't be happier to call any other place my home asides from Canada.

Canada is very used to these things, as it's very diverse.
not once have I had somebody ask me to take off my hijab for any government ID. ;D

;D ;D ;D ;D very interesting post by you. goatlove I think explained your confusion...and as such I can only add that yes I am in Canada and no one ever has asked me to take off my hijab for government ID photo (Canadian passport, Driver's Lisence in 2 provinces, health cards etc.)(I wear a scarf covering my hair where I think you are thinking of hijab as a niqab and burka which covers ones face). I also hold a European Union passport and there as well no one asked me to take off my scarf to show my hair for photo. My husband who I am sponsoring to join me in Canada does not wear hijab nor a niqab or a burka, i don't think he ever has lol ...however many times I think he actually should especially in Canada

You misunderstand my question........it was in response to what u had said.....that u would allow the additional photos brought by your husband to only be viewed by a woman VO (as i believe u r not wearing a hijab in them). I think that is an unfair demand from this country.

I dont get the insistence to only let a woman VO see the photos. And since u have always been in Canada,it surprises me that it is an issue even to you - one who has been exposed to different cultures and mindsets.

It's part of my religious belief to cover, and thanks be to God that in a country such as Canada to date I have not met anyone who would think this is a problem, you however it seems, are trying to make this forum to be about something that it is not.

Chances are the visa office processing applications in this region, is well aware of this cultural aspect and usually does their best to accommodate. It's no different than requiring a female physician in Canada.
I think we need to be sensitive about our expectations of others who come to this country. Just like people can't be forced to celebrate halloween, an immigrant is not required to abandon their religion, identity, etc. They only need to be law-abiding, pay taxes, and do all the other civic duties required of Canadian citizens.

yes right, the most important thing is to respect other's beliefs no matter where they are on this earth are should be respected. I don't know why some few people on this forum at every time when they see a Muslim asking something about immigration stuff they will ignore what they asked for and they start talking about their religion! wake up people; leave beliefs aside and discuss immigration. thanks
