Hello,

I need help urgently. I am in UK now. I lived in US in the past for about 3 years. I was in Texas. I need to send finger prints to FBI for getting police certificate. Does anyone know what is the quickest and easiest way to get finger prints in UK - I mean other than doing it by myself i.e. getting it from professional experts. Do local police departments provide this service? Please let me know. Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Also my consultant says that state police clearnce is not always required and can be provided only if asked later. Please let me know your experiences about this. Thanks.

1. Either look in the phone book for fingerprinting services or check with your local police.
2. Your "consultant" is wrong, maybe s/he should read http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/united-states.asp

Provided you are in London, the MET Police does not fingerprint people like they do in other countries. If you show up at the any police station they will give you a number to call Scotland yard. you have to call the number and make an appointment to go and have your fingerprints done. Be aware they are very busy and you will only find slots available 2 to 3 weeks from when you book. you will have to go to Scotland yard in central london and they have a special office that takes care of that. They also have FBI fingerprint cards there (but pls check before going). They are very good, they do all fingerprints for immigration and adoption, but expect to pay for the service it is more than 100 pounds to get your fingerprints in the card!

the other option is to go for a private company. in London there are not many, maybe one or two, they will charge just about the same as the Scotland yard but they have the benefit of doing it much sooner, sometimes they can do it next day. google it and you will find.

DO GET YOUR STATE PPC as soon as you can even if CIC have not requested yet *IF* you want to be safe and you don't want to waste time. Maybe you can get all the fingerprint cards in one go (for FBI and State), which is practical and economical.

PMM, claxtonCT and BobbyB,

Thank you very much. I will check with Scotland Yard and other sources.
