For anyone looking for a Calgary upfront medical in the future, here's my review of Dr Grunberg from July 2016 (as posted on Yelp, I can't share the link):
Dr Grunberg is a panel physician for Immigration Canada, which means that this is no normal GP but a small, specialised clinic for anyone that needs a medical done as part of a visa application.
In Calgary there are currently 7 approved panel physicians that you can visit for your medical exam. Dr Grunberg is the only one that actually has all of the information you're looking for on a website, online appointment bookings, is downtown, and is registered for eMedical (which means that you don't need to take along Passport photos with you as they'll take them there, and more importantly the results are submitted quicker).
Now, you'll think $225 for a ten minute (yes, ten minute) exam is pricey. It's also on the cheap side as far as visa medicals go. Other places will have a longer exam (if you're wanting an in-depth medical) but if you already know you're healthy and just want the exam for your visa, this is the way to go. Others are over $300.
Steps for your medical: book the appointment online here, take your Passport and CASH (yep, no cards taken here but there's an ATM downstairs if you need it) with you to your appointment, have your exam done, go to your pre-booked lab immigration appointment separately (book this online ahead of time for after your appointment) and then complete a walk-in chest x-ray. They'll give you the list of places you can go to at the appointment, and bear in mind that the lab test and x-ray are also extra (roughly $40+ for the lab work and $80+ for an x-ray depending on where you go).
*Update: My medicals were approved by CIC. You can also request the date that your medical exam results were submitted to CIC by emailing Dr Grunberg's office after these are all complete. Mine were submitted three days after completing my lab and x-ray exams.
