Hi everyone,

I just want to ask about this line from the CIC website:
"Your medical exam results are valid for 12 months only. If you do not come to Canada as a permanent resident within that time, you may need to have another exam."

I am sponsoring my husband and he did his upfront medical exam mid February 2016. CIC received our application March.7th. What happens if decision is made a little bit less than a year later? ie: end of January. Does this mean he has to rush to Canada before his medical exam expires?

Thanks. I know I'm getting ahead of myself ;D

if the medical expires before PR is issued then 2 things can happen:
a) cic will request a new medical to be done
b) if the medical has been done within 16 months of approval then CIC will extend it so the PR can land

There is nothing that can be done until CIC makes that decision. there is no reason to redo the medical until it's actually requested by CIC.
