Upfront Medical Exam and Police Certificate

Hello guys, I submitted my Express Entry profile yesterday. I hope I get the ITA in the next round (my score is 474). I had a couple of questions regarding the mandatory documentation that will be required for the e-APR.

1) Now, that I have submitted my profile I was wondering if I can schedule my medical appointment (the wait times are about 1-2 weeks in Toronto). Is it possible to do a upfront medical before receiving the ITA?

2) Police clearance certificate - It states that you need a police certificate for any country you have lived for more than 6 months. I have spent 5 months in the US as an intern. But since I was 18, I have had multiple vacations in the US (if I tally up all the days it's definitely more than 1 month). So do I need a police certificate from the US?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

I suggest you get one if the 5 months you worked as an intern was after you turned 18

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. It actually doesn't matter now as I received the ITA yesterday (I was in the pool for less than 24 hrs :) ). It looks like the US police clearance takes close to 8-10 weeks to process. In that case can I make the request and submit that along with a LOE?

Congrats on your ITA. It's better to make an attempt to submit your application with your police report as opposed to submitting an LOE upfront stating you cannot provide it now. That being said, you'd unfortunately have to wait and see if you can get the report before the 90 days deadline, then if you still don't have it by then, you submit your application with an LOE.

Someone else correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi there, we arranged an upfront medical a couple of weeks before ITA, mainly because of the wait time for an appointment and it takes a couple of weeks after for them to process the tests. You receive a confirmation letter on the day which can be uploaded & has a bar code which cic will use. In the mean time you can start getting prepared with all the information required, it's surprising how time consuming this can be gathering documents and scanning the info. When scanning make sure you clearly title each document for your benefit, check & double check each file is correct. Sounds silly but an incorrect upload can be a reason for rejection. When you do the final upload in each section you can't click & open it to check, all you see is your file document name. Let me know if you want a list of info required.
Good luck

We applied for US police check, fingerprints are required and be aware it takes time, we applied prior to ITA in Feb & it took 3 months to arrive back.

Hi there, thanks for your response. Yes, I just had my medical yesterday so hopefully it won't take too long to process. I'm mostly worried about my background check from the US. I applied (while I was visiting the US) 2 weeks before I received my ITA so I hope I can get mine in 10 weeks or so (I submitted my application with my sister's US address so I'm hoping that it reaches quickly after they are done processing).
