Hi folks,

I was searching through the forum but I stumbled upon an article saying that as a CEC inland, I will have to have my PR card to update my SIN and COPR will not be enough to process.

Is this true? what's your personal experience?

That is correct but you can continue to use your old SIN if you have valid status i.e. implied status or valid work permit.

Although my closed work permit is suppose to be valid, I imagined that my status will change automatically as a PR once I received my CoPR?

I believe your status remains as it is (i.e. closed WP) until you land using your CoPR. You can land as soon as you have your CoPR by "flagpolling", travelling outside Canada and landing on your return or you can request a landing interview appointment at you nearest IRCC office. Once you land and you are PR you are free to work anywhere.

Hi, I am a CEC Inland applicant as well who landed 3 months ago, and I updated my SIN with stamped COPR without any problem. I am still waiting to receive my PR card. Once you landed as a PR, then you are a PR and will be eligible to apply for new SIN with COPR and stamped Passport and it should not matter what kinds of visa you were holding (open or closed work permit) before you landed as a PR, This is my personal opinion though.
