Unpaid Representative for my wife

Hi everyone,

I'm sponsoring my wife and I'm her Unpaid representative. I'm confused about who can link the application to an online account. Is it me the unpaid representative or her the principal applicant?

They say here for the principal applicant "Do not attempt to link your application to your personal online account if you have appointed a representative". But they also say "Unpaid representatives cannot use online accounts"

So who can link the application? the unpaid representative or the applicant?

Idid linked my application thru gckey tho i have representative. Ihope this will not affect my application.

The applicant can Link the application to the Gckey account. So technically you or her. Just when linking the application at the end where it says how many people on this application make sure to include yourself. So 2 if it’s you and your wife. Add more if there is dependents.

You can’t link the application if you have a paid rep, because they’ll link it to their account.

Use all your wife’s information to create the account.

I acted as am representative for my spouse application, and linked application on my gckey. If someone authorized to be representative, then representative can only link application on the gckey account.

Once you get the file no. as an Unpaid representative ( sponsor ) you will be able to link the application
to the online account. The PA will not be able to link the account.
Sometimes it can be difficult and frustrating especially which was in our case due to the information IRCC
had entered into their system.

Once you get file no. if having trouble linking, Just call IRCC and they will be more than happy to help you link your account.
No problem and remember to check your GC account and emails/Junk folder frequently.
You don't want to miss any important messages that could delay your application.......Understand?
Wife would not be happy!
