My wife officially landed last week, and is now a permanent resident. She's got her social insurance number sorted out, as well as her health insurance. Everything seems to be done. However, we got a phone call asking her to call a 1-800 number.

My mom answered the phone, and it was only a recording. It said they needed to talk to my wife about her visa, gave a 1-800 number, and then disconnected. They did not repeat the number. My mom was unable to write down the number, as it wasn't repeated. We have no idea what this could be. Any thoughts?

Sounds like a scam.

That's what I was suspecting. If it's really important, they'd correspond by mail, I would imagine.

yeah. just don't bother. Official and legal communications are always sent over mail or email.

As she is now a Permanent Resident, she no longer requires or is eligible for any form of "visa".
I agree with the others. This is almost certainly a scam and will be trying to extort money to "avoid deportation".

Not too worried, relax and enjoy life in Canada. There's no any way your wife will lost PR status. Unless IRCC believes that your wife, has been, or will be involved in subversion, or terrorism, or that she is a security risk for some other reason.:)
