Hi all,

I'm planning to apply for the M.A.Sc Process Systems Engineering at University of Regina. Is there anyone who have successfully secured a spot for thesis based masters in University of Regina? Or anyone who have applied?
I need some help
TIA

Hello,

I have applied for the Masters In Computer Science (Thesis) for summer intake 2019 I am waiting for result now. Most of the thesis based master have special requirement for supervisors. I would like you to do one thing before applying for the masters in thesis, contact the potential supervisor. Read the admission requirement, in some programs it is important to secure supervisor first. So you should reach out to supervisors to supervise you and then apply for the masters.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. So were you able to contact a supervisor? Did they reply you? As I know its really difficult to get a reply from them.
And my problem is my GPA. I just have 2.82 out of 4.2. That's 67% and I have a research publication. Any idea about the possibility of get accepted. Already I was rejected by Memorial

I have mailed 5 of them, but haven't got the reply yet. Its really hard to convince them on email, but if you write the most honest and authentic email then they definitely reply you back, even accept you as a their student.

You need to see the program's eligibility requirement, your GPA is on the lower side and as per my thinking U of R's minimum percentage requirement is 70%, not sure about your program. But you can take a chance by contacting the supervisor(that matches your interest) and discuss about your interests and your admission opportunity.

You can also contact the university's and tell them about your GPA and percentage so that they will let you know if you are eligible for the program or not.

Yeah. I contacted the university. They said they can't evaluate just by the GPA. They asked me to submit the WES evaluation along with a formal application. Have you done IELTS, GRE. My university is exempted from doing IELTS

My university is also exempted from IELTS, WES is now compulsory for the admission in U of R. Have you got your evaluation completed?

Well I guess WES is now compulsory for all the admissions now.
My Profile is:
CGPA(After WES evaluation): 3.5/4
Percentage: 77%
Working experience: 2 years and 8 months.

I applied to University of Saskatchewan and Simon Fraser University Masters in Computer Science -thesis,
contacted one professor so far but the professor said he doesn't have any open position for my background this year.

Most of the time professor do not reply to the emails, but if you provide enough details of yours in your email, then they note down your name and recall while selecting the students during faculty review. This way you have the chance to get selected as a student for thesis.

I also mailed quite a few professors, giving all my information and research interest, but no response were received.

Lets keep each other updated, I'm applying to University of Regina too. How did they waive your IELTS?

When are you applying and for which term? My university is exempted from IELTS because the medium of education in my university is English.

When you fill out the online admission application, U of R provides you the list of the institutions which are exempted from the IELTS test. My university was in it so I didn't have to give the IELTS exam to be eligible.

Yesterday I received the email from the grad studies stating that they will be emailing the final results of admission on 29th January. I am a bit nervous but positive.

It isn't a good idea to share personal phone numbers on social platforms. :) I hope you understand.

U ll get to know when you fill the online application for admission if your institution is exempted or not because there are some universities in my country whose medium of education is English but they are not exempted.

You should rather start applying for the fall semester because it takes a lot of time to fulfill the requirements. Did you get your degrees evaluated by WES?
