Hi,

Apply under Univ. category... because as name suggest..you have admission in a recognized Canadian university.

As a citizen of India, you can apply for Canadian study permit under 3 categories - generic/general, universality and SPP(for selected colleges).

To know more and exact requirements for each category... see the official CIC checklist:

GENERAL - http://www.vfs-canada.co.in/pdf/study_permit_20-09-2012.pdf
UNIVERSITY - http://www.vfs-canada.co.in/pdf/Delhi_study_permit_1_22.10.12.pdf
SPP - http://www.vfs-canada.co.in/pdf/Student_Partners_Program_09022013.pdf

Yeah I think we should be ok without IELTS if the uni exempts us. Good to know another person from india is going to SFU this year!
I will be going in August, waiting on the loan sanction from the bank. Will prob apply 1st week of april. Is your course in downtown vancouver campus??

1. If applying for August entry, you won't get visa before 1st week of May.

I guess but i will probably be applying end of march so if get by may 1st I will be happy. My actual course starts on sept 5th but I have been
assigned some refresher courses in august. Do u think this will cause any problems during the application. I have a letter from the university to prove this. Do i have to get a entry visa along with the study permit to enter into Canada in august ?

Hi Sanjeet, no I have not yet applied I will be traveling this month so unable to submit my passport till june 1st week. So will only apply by then, I think 2 months time is enough for University category, I have to be in Vancouver by August 2nd.

Which course are you going for?
