Is the Canadian TRV system one of the stricter ones out there? - Sure, it is.

But ultimately, Canada does not owe any of us anything and the burden of proof is always on us to convince them that we deserve to visit/immigrate and filling out all forms correctly.

I understand it is easy to be frustrated and blame IRCC for everything but in 99.9% of cases, the reason for refusal lies with a clear weakness or oversight in an applicant's application.

OP shouldn't have bought tickets before visa was approved. It's common sense to buy the tickets when you got the visa. Now sure, if you bought the tickets after the visa, come to the border, and the officers somehow believe that you're not a genuine visitor and turn you away, then that's understandable. Also in the instructions, it clearly states that you don't need to buy the tickets beforehand, an itinerary would've been enough.

My wife when she got her TRV, she didn't buy the tickets even when it says "Application has been approved." She waited until she physically saw the visa on her passport. Even my mom in law got her supervisa approved, she's not buying the tickets yet until she physically sees the visa. Both ladies got their TRVs approved without having to spend a single dollar on a plane ticket.

It also should be common sense to not buy non-refundable tickets until getting the visa approval, unless you are prepared to gamble it away, and all anyone can advise here is how OP can cut their losses.

But what I am sorry about is the $1500 loss.

I think the more important question is if the OP indeed did declare his refused visa in the background information form, then why was he refused for a non-applicable reason?

Yes, there will be notes such as why they didn't find a document credible, etc. I saw a few examples on this forum.

You can order at http://www.visafile.info if you don't have a relative in Canada.

Hi! Wondering what country did u apply the trv?
As i am worried too as soon as i read what happened to your application.
My parents tourist visa was refused the 1st time due to insufficient document from host's asset..
Which is our fault..so we re-apply apply again and paid last May 18 Canada Time..
I answer YES on the question where they ask if my parents has been refused before and indicate the reason but i did not included the previous application number..now im worried :( ???

That's also fine. I had 2 PR visa refusals + current PR application but didn't quote the application numbers but I got approved for the TRV anyway. We're from the same country.

Thank you..but i have done the most stupid thing..while waiting for the result of my parents application, i review all the documents that i submit, and i noticed the IMM5257 trv form for my father. under the employment history address i mis-selected PERU instead of PHILIPPINES.And now im paranoid with the application. i did email and made a web form case thru cic to informed them regarding my honest mistake..do u think Visa Officer will be subjective on this case? Im so frustrated and upset with myself

Hi there, I am so sorry to hear that happen to you. This happen to me too.

I am the one always keep smiling but I can't recently. They refused my sister's visitor visa application due to family tie in Canada which is me. My husband and I didn't do anything wrong for this country but working, working, working, working working working working aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa for almost 20 years and pay lots of tax. My sister supported me a lot while I am here to built my life and contribute to this country. Now her application is refused because of me. I am crying, my hear t is sank. Can somebody tell me what's wrong with this family tie in Canada? Our country is hurting her citizen. Can somebody help? Please!

Hi,

Sorry to know your sister was refused.

1. How long did she want to visit and what is the purpose of her visit?

2. What documents did she submit to prove her ties to her home country?

3. Is she married? Lives with other immediate family members?

Don't lose hope

Cheers

Interesting choice of words! People on the forum are not CIC employees and do not issue visas so they can only go by experience on the query. As Bryanna mentioned, request for the notes to see where things went wrong. There's no merit in calling anyone names.
