Unable to maintain PR; will it be an issue for future PR application

Hi,

My parents are unable to live 2 out of 5 years in Canada to maintain their PR status. In these circumstances, if they lose their PR, will I be able to reapply for their PR in the future? If I can, will this record of not maintaining the PR, will be an issue? My parents ultimately want to settle in Canada, however, they can’t live here for the time being because of their jobs.

Does anybody have any similar experience? I would welcome any insights.

Thanks in advance

It should not affect any future applications. At least, it doesn't /isn't a factor now.

BUT: of course any existing programs can be changed or dropped in future. In particular if you're expecting/hoping to sponsor them by parents and grandparents program, it's a lottery and changes every year - with more rumours than for other programs of it being substantially modified. (They could also explicitly make it a negative to have previously been a PR, but doubt that's high on anyone's list of issues)

In other words, sure, they can apply in future, but should have no or low expectations that it will work out as they'd like. That should enter into their claculations of whether it's worth it to try to maintain their existing status.

Yes, they can reapply again for PR in the future. No, their record of not maintaining RO will not be an issue.
