UK Police Clearance

Hi there,

anyone know how long does the UK police clearance certificate take to get delivered.

I applied for it by normal post on 15th April and waiting.

I havnt got my ITA, but either way this UK clerance has no expiry date since I left the place and am currently in the UAE.


Has anyone applied for it from Overseas. If yes can you advice how long it took to reach you.

2 weeks for regular processing and you should be able to receive it by post within another 2 weeks.

just 4-5 days. urgent. applied on Thursday, same day it was dispatched. Monday i recd it.

2 weeks for regular processing and you should be able to receive it by post within another 2 weeks.

From the day they receive your application it takes 2 weeks for regular processing. Normally done within a week or 10 days. After that 2 weeks (I used the maximum time) to reach you by post. Though you can expect within a week.

Do we need to get police clearance cert just for the main applicant or for Spouse as well?

If you spouse lived in UK for more than 6 months then separately needed for him/her.

Many Thanks. One question regarding getting police verification Cert from India.. I have lived at multiple locations in last couple of years, for ex:

Till 2007 --> Amritsar India ( my permanent add, born and brought up)
2007 - 2011 --> UK
2011 - 2014 --> Noida, India
2014 - 2015 --> UK
2015 to Present --> Noida India

My address on passport is of Amritsar.. So while applying for police clearance cert in India, when I book the appointment in Amritsar, can it create any problem if my present address is of Noida.. And from which city I need to give the references...

if i am right.. its just the country. it doesn matter which city..

Not sure, but Noida and Amritsar are in different states of India (not sure if you are an Indian). That's the reason I am in dilemma... More concerned about the references, do I need to provide reference from my present city or permanent add

UK police clearance : application made online with address details / duration of stay. Certificate is delivered within 10 working days from the time of receiving application. Faster delivery ( less than 4 days ) made for a premium.

India PCC : Application can be made through Passport office. You dont have to get a clearance from each city, just apply for PCC ( valid for India) from the current city you live in or passport office near your city.
