Good morning Forum members

Hope everyone is doing great.

I am preparing documents for the citizenship application. In the preceding 4th year, I was in UAE and I have to provide a UAE PCC along with the application.

I have seen two types of UAE PCC:

1- Issued by Dubai Police. The title is named 'UAE Police Clearance Certificate'. They send it electronic copy and the certificate clearly says that authenticity can be verified online. Dubai police do not issue an original certificate or courier it to Canada
2- Certificate issued by the Ministry of Interior UAE. The process is where one requests PCC online and it is sent with a red stamp thereon. The recipient has to visit UAE consulate in Toronto to obtain the original PCC (without the red stamp). The certificate issued by Ministry of Interior has a title 'criminal record certificate'

For Friends who have submitted citizenship application and provided UAE PCC, My question is :

1- Which one is better: The Dubai PCC is not original and citizenship application checklist asks for an original to be submitted. Is there a harm in using Dubai PCC?
2- Criminal certificate or Police Clearance certificate: Though both documents confirm the same thing i.e. criminal records, but don't you think to provide a certificate titled police clearance is better (i.e. the Dubai police PCC?)
3- Online verifiable document versus original hard copy document: I am wondering what if Dubai PCC issued is verifiable only for 3 months period and thereafter there is no record of the document. If this supposition is correct then there is a high risk that application might be delayed. Given the fact that Dubai certificate is electronic and can be verified online, I fear hard copy document is more credible (from immigration authorities perspective as I believe the applications are picked up few months after the AoR).

I would also appreciate if friends can share their experiences of using Dubai PCC or Ministry of Interior, one as the case may be.

Thank you in advance.

If u did not visit dubai since becoming PR and u provided a police certificate from dubai when u had u PR u do not need to provide one with citizenship. Check the application guide explaination on this and how to mention about this in app form, it gives u some examples when u need certificate and when not. Also if u really want to provide one online version is just fine.

I requested mine online only, Dubai PCC. No issues at all.
Hey, Thanks. If you don't mind tell, have you received citizenship already? I am more prone to request MoI as at least I would get a hard copy document. With the one issued by Dubai police, it is valid for 3 months only and I believe it can only be verified for 3 months. Since applications are not picked for few months, I wonder what if IRCC could not verify the authenticity of the online document.

Thanks for the reply. I did visit UAE after becoming PR only for 67 days. I am not taking any chance and will be attaching UAE PCC anyway.

Hello,

i am sure its not the right place to ask this but since i saw Dubai PCC mentioned, have a question which the senior members can answer.

for PCC, is it required from the resident country or country of origin (citizen). I am a Pakistani national but have been living in UAE all my life, I only visited Pakistan for 1-2 months since the age of 18. do i still require the PCC from Pakistan and if so, can it be applied here in Pakistan consulate Dubai?

for the spouse, after the age of 18, she was temporarily in Pakistan for around 1-1.5 years and then again moved back to UAE. Her national id is now updated with my permanent address, in such case, from where I have to get the PCC in Pakistan?

a little guidance on this matter would be much appreciated.

The PCC will have to be gotten from the permanent addresses on the NiCs of your wife.

how long did you stay in Sharjah? And what years did you stay in?

I believe the process of getting the PCC from UAE without the emirates ID is longer.

You have to send in your fingerprints and your residence permit copy to the local embassy (or you may send it to somebody who is based there and they can submit on your behalf but I can't remember the details).

where can I confirm this? This is my situation. I worked in the UAE and got PCC for my PR application then I moved in Canada (Didnt visit the UAE after landing). With this, I dont need PCC anymore?

you should be able to find instructions around this in application instructions.

If i remember correctly they only want PCCs if you were residing somewhere else in the last 4 years.
