Yes I got the experience to bypass the license test to directly G class.
The insurance companies dont care. I got my no insurance claims from Dubai but it doesnt matter here it wanst accepted here. They will quote you based on your license class, area you live, car, etc. But NT on no claims from dubai.
And insurance here sucks - very expensive compared to dubai.

I do understand, close our eyes and pay the premium haha, I thought having 15+ years of UAE driving experience make a different in quote. If I may ask. around how much you are paying?

CAd 230 for a used F150.. I used to pay half that for a new nissan Patrol in Dubai! And I work from home... If i was commuting / pr lived in different area, it would be higher!
20 years license in DXB... So yeah dubai spoils you with cars/insruance...

Hello @jimshady @kabayan @bimale4bipeople

I am preparing for UAE driving test under Sharjah. My plan is to skip the one year wait between knowledge test and G1 driving test, so that I can get to G2 upon landing in Canada (after giving G1 knowledge test and G2 test). My UAE licence would be only few months old by the time I get to Canada. I can skip the one year wait between knowledge test and driving test for G2, right?
Anyone?

This is specific for British Columbia
Full-privilege B.C. driver's licence requirement
To get your full-privilege driver’s licence, you need to have held a driver’s licence (not a learner’s) for at least two years.

If you don't meet this requirement or can't prove it, you will enter the Graduated Licensing Program, which means you’ll start off with a Novice (N) licence that has some restrictions.

Does that mean I will start with G1? Apologies as I am only familiar with Ontario terminologies.

I wouldn't know about Shj license, but from my understanding and little experience, if you are just applying and wont have 2 years added up, it will not be accepted - so don't waste your money in UAE. Start from scratch here as you will have to that anyways.

Yes, and unlike dubai where your insruance keeps reducing every year (no accidents/claims) , here apprently it increases. I dont know personally, but I have been told.
Im in Ontario.

I have attached what the certificate looks like. It is an e-certificate.

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience, I would like to know if the attestation is required from Ministry of Affairs?

These are the terms and conditions mentioned on RTA website
  • In case the customer is applying for an experience certificate to use outside the country, the certificate must be authenticated and stamped by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dubai
  • The customer is required to pay all the fines related to the driving license.

Hi

I will be moving to Toronto shortly and I have taken the driving experience certificate from RTA.

Just wanted to check if it requires attestation ?

Some people mentioned that its not required and the certificate can be verified online so just checking again if attestation is mandatory or not.

Thanks

Hi
I have a Abu Dhabi issue Automatic Car driving license issued in 2015.
I was trying to apply for the experience certificate online - but the system is asking for a 8 digit traffic code, where as my license mentions a 10 digit traffic code.
I have emailed ADPOLICE many times, but they haven't yet replied (been quite some time).
I am just getting one year of experience without the experience certificate and so being eligible to appear for G2. If I can get this experience letter, I can add the experience to my file here in Ontario and make myself eligible for G.
Please advise
