Two work permits simultaneously Open and Close work permit

Hi,

Currently, I am holding an open work permit(BOWP). My closed work permit is expiring in a month. My employer want to extend my closed workpermit.
I am wondering, by applying to closed work permit extension, will it invalidate my already existing open work permit(BOWP)?

Is it legal to apply for closed work permit extension while holding an open work permit?

Can you inform your employer about your BOWP? Each work permit (closed / open) is valid until the expiry date printed on each of them. A new closed work permit does not invalidate any existing valid open (or even a closed one with another employer) work permit.

Is it legal to apply for closed one after getting BOWP- Yes. Approval depends on the Officer.

Thanks for your response, I don't want to disclose to my employer about my BOWP.
I will go ahead and ask my employer to process my closed wp without informing about my BOWP.

Any reason why you wouldn't like to disclose to your employer that you have BOWP? What if CIC rejects your application for a new closed work permit saying that you already have a BOWP, with which you can work for any employer? Then you will have to disclose to your employer that you actually do have a valid work permit, which may create complications with your employer.
