Two NOCs, which one to choose? How work experience is calculated: both NOCs ?

Hi everyone. Truly need your advice.
I have a question regarding how the work experience points are calculated. My situation is as follows:
I have been working for the same company for the last 6+ years, first two years as a market research analyst (NOC 4163) and the last 4.5 years as a corporate sales manager (NOC 0601).
Could you please advise: will my work experienced will be counted as 6+ years in total or they only count the experience in a particular NOC? Which one should I use? Might be a rudimentary question for many, however, I indeed stuck with that dilemma.
In my EE profile I stated the work experience as described above. My CRS is 429 points.
Thanks in advance!

Always state the NOC code which reflects the tasks and duties stated in your current position. I don't have practical working experience or knowledge as to what duties either of these roles encompasses but on the face of it they seem 2 very different roles entirely.

I think you will have to reflect both NOC's for the role (if the duties of the job reflect the expected duties as described in the NOC memo). Looking at it I don't think it will count as 6+ years of work experience. I'm sorry I know it's probably not what you want to hear, but the penalty of even slightly misrepresenting yourself to CIC is a 5 year ban.

Appreciate your prompt reply!
I did mentioned two NOCs in EE profile and there is no misrepresentation. According to what you say, then my experience will be counted as 4.5 years (0601)? Even so, still I manage maintain 67 points in FSW selection criteria.

Yes, it will be counted as 4.5 years. That is great news! What I would do is do a draft letter and keep for your employer to sign (in the event that you get selected for an ITA). It just saves you having to do it letter. Make sure that the duties of your job reflect at least some of the duties stated in the NOC.

Any job in NOC 0 A or B qualifies for work-experience years. It doesn't matter if you were in two NOC or ten NOCs as long as you have the documentation from the manager/company describing roles and responsibilities that match the chosen NOCs.

Sure, I will do so ASAP.
Do I also need to have the HR to state my previous position of NOC 4163 since I have been working within in the same company for 6+ years?

Yes, you need to reflect both your positions, the reponsibilities entailed by those positions, and who your direct line reporting manager or managers were. You will also need to state how much you were paid in each position (including benefits, pension etc.). Once the letter is complete it needs to be placed on letterhead and signed by your manager/HR.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thank you very much for your response.
So, it means all 6+ years in the company will be counted towards experience?

Guys, I truly appreciate all your advises. In order to fully explain the situation I am in, I will go more into details.

My work experience and and positions held in the company:
1. Market research analyst, duration 2 years; NOC 4163
2. Deputy General manager of sales, 6 months; (i couldn't find NOC for dgm, I assume it should be same with sales manager since job functions are not really different, except scope is a little broader)
3. General manager of sale, 2 years; (title attributes to NOC 0015, however my job functions remained the same so it should stay 0601?)
4. Sales manager 2 years; NOC 0601

So, please tell me how many years of work experience I will be given and.
thanks a lot!

From what you have described it looks like (less than 6 years). I say that only based on the fact that the NOC codes you have stated are different. My profession is that of a professionally qualified accountant.

Forum Members is there anyone who has the working experience as described by tgman who can give a more accurate answer?

For CRS purposes, you can mix and match experience across multiple NOCs (0/A/B) gained within the last 10 years. Those points max out at 3 years of foreign work experience so you've nothing to worry on that front as long as you have valid reference letters for these jobs.

For FSW, it depends on your Primary NOC as you can't claim points for more than 1 NOC. If you choose 0601 as your Primary NOC, based on those 4.5 years of experience and assuming you have valid reference letters, you'll get 13 points for Work Experience on the 100 point scale.

Hi Asivad & others,

I am currently building out my EE profile (FSW) and only part left is work experience/NOC part (which seems to be the most critical to avoid misrepresentation).
Based on what you mentioned above and others have posted in various threads, i have listed my understanding below, and wanted your guidance in case i am going about this the wrong way / have misunderstood anything / missed anything important etc.
Just want to take care to avoid any unintended misrepresentation/ineligibility etc. while submitting my EE profile.

My work experience :
>> 2.96 years(1081 calendar days) under NOC 1221 (Project coordinator / PMO analyst) under skill type B.
>> Post - promotion....... 2.64 years(962 calendar days & counting....i.e. current job) under NOC 0213 (Project Manager) under skill type 0.

Based on above work experience, below is how i planned to proceed with EE profile :
1. I will first ensure i can acquire the proof of experience letter with job duties listed correctly from my employer.
2. Once acquired the letter, send an email to CIC with the duties in the letter to confirm that, their evaluation of my NOC matches what i have listed above (i believe this is recommended to do even if 99% sure, based on previous threads/posts i went through a few months back - can't find the link now).
4. One has to choose a primary NOC for their profile, so i can choose the 0213 (skill type 0) as per my current position as primary. Per my understanding, for EE FSW, the actual NOC does not really impact my actual CRS score and also does not impact PR processing time-frame / decision etc.... - is this correct ?
5. However, i need to make sure i still have the initially required 67/100 points for EE FSW and based on above experience, i believe i would get 11 points for the experience factor if i use 0213 as my primary NOC (i.e. 2 to 3 yrs.). Is this correct ? ..... actually either NOC would still give me 11 points which would keep me over 67/100.
6. Wait till CIC confirms the NOCs to be correct, in an email reply - only then submit my EE profile.

Sorry for the long post, but appreciate thoughts/inputs on this as it is the one part that i am slightly confused about as there are many considerations to take in account.

Thanks !

Hello Members,
I need your advice and guidance. I am filling express entry with three areas of experience. I am a manufacturing engineer have 12 years of total experience in such a way that I served:
1) 4 years core manufacturing engineer for automotive parts development.
2) 2 years in engineering University as lecturer, teaching manufacturing engineering
3) 6 years plus served in the technical vocational education system and applied engineering for the development of new sites, selection and procurement of workshops, machinery, tooling and even cad/ cam softwares. Furthermore, managed multiple locations institutes.
Question is should I select NOC for engineering for my entire career or should I select three NOCs separately....what is the better way to go about it?
Really appreciate your support and suggestions.
Regards,
