I am an international student here in Canada, my visa expired in January and now i am trying to renew it. The issues are as follows:

1.I submitted my application, only for me to receive an email requesting me to go do a biometrics, upon checking their website it clearly states that if you are already in Canada it does not apply to you.

2. So,i immediately emailed them and now i have even done that twice, and their reply is as follows:
"Dear Applicant,

In response to your email, for applicants who apply for a new visa from within Canada, CIC will not require biometric information.
Please ensure that your current country of residence is set to Canada in MyCIC if you are in Canada.

If you are currently residing in Canada, you are requested to disregard the biometric request for payment.

We thank you for your patience. In order to efficiently process requests, we will not reply to duplicate emails."

3. My problem now is though i have been asked to disregard it, my application status on CIC clearly shows that Biometrics is required from candidate. I am thinking this reply is already generated automatically as i have received it twice, and this is happening to a friend of mine too that we are from the same country. What do you advise to do? My ticket is already booked for 25th of may, and i am just so frustrated.

Did you follow the instructions to reset the Country of residence in MY CIC to Canada? It should solve your problem.

PMM is right. You might have probably made a mistake on the questionaire about your current country of residence. If this is so, then it will cause unnecesary delays. You contact them to reset this or withdraw and re-submit a new application if you really want it fast.

Yes my country of residence is set to Canada, and i have even tried to see ways in which i can reset it,but its not even allowing me to view the form. The problem is that when i call that number it is a call centre and the agent do not really know much, anyone knows how i can get someone in the Ottawa office to speak to on phone?

I hope someone help with this, but its not easy when it comes to contacting CIC for personal enquiries. May be you should also try to use the Otawa's case reporting (online). Indicate it's urgent and give all your details including UCI, and the state your problem clearly. Be simple and straigth forward. Keep us posted.
