Hi,
I am International student for business management 2year program. i got my SIN number immediately after coming to canada. I came to canada on 12th September,2013. Now, my husband have applied for TRV visa on 27th September,2013 and got rejected. Now I want him to apply for Dependent visa. can he CAN DEPENDENT VISA NOW. And please tell me how much time do we need to wait to reapply for the visa? I am very very worried about this status now. please tell me will he get the visa, once again if he apply for dependent. one consultancy guy was telling us that my husband shouldn't have applied for TRV when i am an International student. He is saying that my husband can dependent visa now immediately. is that correct ? or do you wish me to wait for sometime? please help me out?

Amrutha, he should be able to apply for open work permit.
what were the reasons for rejection ?

open work permit gives the spouse an option to work here in any company for any number of hours.

i went through the same situation where my hubby was doing his MBA full-time in u of alberta and my TRV was rejected. so i waited for 5 mo, accumulated enough funds and applied for open work permit which was approved.

now i am a PR.

you can message me privately if you need any info or help. where are you pursuing your MBA btw.

Good luck again. hope things will fall in place soon :)

Lakky is 100% right.

He can apply for an open work permit (OWP) immediately. Try to get money into your account here in Canada (12000-14000 CAD will be ideal), and use the statement from the bank in Canada. Since he is your spouse, your money will be seen as his money. Also include a signed letter stating that you will take care of his travel expenses and initial daily needs until he finds a job in Canada. If you can include a sworn affidavit from a Canadian court stating that the money belongs to both of you, it would be even better. The requirements for getting an OWP are not as stringent as that of getting a TRV. Good luck!
