TRV is rejected

Hi everyone,

I applied for TRV (tourism) and they refused my TRV.

I sumbitted -
All applicable application forms,
Employment letter,
Salary slips of last 6 months,
Bank statement of last 6 months
Self explanatory letter of assets in back home and country of residence.
Hotel accommodation/reservation
I have submitted evidence that my kids school registration

They gave me 3 reasons and my criteria is in bracket.
1. Your travel history (we have been Saudi Arabia, india.)

2. Purpose of visit (Tourism) what else ?

3. Ties in in Canada/country of residence (I work for an Oil company - permanent direct hire for last 15 yrs, working in middle east since 2000).

So what was wrong with my application ? I really want to know.

I have read the thread and I have submited the same documentds as mentioned in the thread including renewal contract of my house in UAE.
Thats the reason I am thinking to hire lawyer facilities to explain our ties to the visa officer as we can not meet him directly to explain our ties.
we will be visiting USA in Feb and want to spend few days in Canada as well. Does anybody know the procedure to hire the Canadian lawyer facilities?

So far my knowledge normally Canada don't want to issue any TRV Visa specially Visitor,who earlier has not visit USA.So to obtain Canadian TRV Visitor Visa,you should visit US first and then try to obtain for Canadian Visitor Visa or before going to visit USA you can apply also.Valid US tour or valid US Visa will help more to obtain your expected Canadian Visitor Visa.

This is not true.

It is not necessary to have visited the US earlier or to have a valid US visa to be able to get a Canada TRV. A favourable assessment for TRVs is based on strong ties to the applicant's home country/country of residence + a genuine reason to visit Canada for a finite duration + good financial situation to support the visit

Hi,unfortunately I am not agreed with you.From one side your point of view is right (it is not mandatory) but from another part your point of view is wrong (valid US Visa or valid US Visiting Tour is more fruitful element to prove as genuine visitor & not intent to be immigrant).For example I can give CAN+ Program which CIC already started as pilot project just for India/China/Mexico where CIC mentioned clearly that if any body has earlier visited either in USA or Canada or has valid US Visa,they can apply under CAN+ Program.CIC just started it as pilot project which could be start for rest of country step by step.FYI 90% of visa applicant under CAN+ obtain Canadian TRV Visa very quickly even without submitting more documents.So,if valid US Visa or Valid US Tour is not strong element,why CIC mentioned it under CAN+ Program on their pilot project for India/China/Mexico?

Thanks for your inputs. We have valid US visit visa but unfortunately we applied before getting visa. We applied first for Canadian TRV and next day for US visa and same day it is approved. We will go in winter holidays and trying any contact of a lawyer. So we can appeal and ask for review of the decision.

You can contact Campbell Cohen - the immigration law firm that hosts this forum.

Appeals are a very expensive and difficult process with low chances of success. One has to prove that the visa officer made an error in assessing the TRV application. You must reapply instead

But this is too bad if the visa is getting refused repeatedly. In my case I agree in my first application my financial documents were not so strong and I wasn't able to show my ties back to home country. But second time when I applied I was so careful I did my process with an immigration lawyer who have well experience n he live in canada. I attached almost all the documents to fulfill the reasons for my first refusal. Even then my application was refused. And that time reasons were so silly saying purpose of visit, length of stay. .whereas I clearly mentioned them eveeything.it seems like they just don't wanna give visa that's it.

How many times you have applied TRV?
Country of Residence?
Even in my case, my first refusal was financial which I improved during second time and showed strong ties still they refused with new reason "travel history" which was obviously not mentioned in first refusal

CIC is happy to issue TRVs..... only if people are able to prove they will return to their home country after their visit.

In most cases these refusals are because people do not present their purpose of visit/strong ties in a convincing way..... lack of adequate finances (or if money was borrowed and no explanations submitted), too, result in refusals.

Yes, in your case you had submitted 4 successive applications rather quickly. To the visa officer, it appeared as *desperately* wanting to come to Canada = strong possibility of overstaying.

Not to worry now. Trust your immigration consultant has prepared an excellent application this time. I hope you get your TRV soon

I applied 2 times for my spouse. in September, I agree in first there were not enough docs for ties and finances both
2 nd time in nov, however i added every single doc for the ties and finances. this they found new reason of denial "travel history". not sure should i apply for the third time now or not

Based on your list of documents in the other thread, your husband has not submitted any documents this time to show his financial situation.

Employment = earnings = ability to prove one is paid a salary = an employment tie

If your husband cannot prove he is paid a salary then his employment documents will not convince the visa officer that he is really employed. This is the reason why I had suggested, in September, that he must request his employer for bank transfers/cheques for his salary.

He must also submit 6 months salary slips + 6 months bank statements + 2 years ITRs + evidence of any financial investments (if possible)


Also, is the lease agreement on his name? Since when? Can he prove he pays/has been paying the rent since the last few months?
