This is going to be me very soon - I applied for TRV (second application) on Oct 14th and planning to travel end of Dec due to an emergency. Did your friend inform IRCC about travelling? Do you know if his file has been transferred to India for processing?

Hello guys, I'm currently on PGWP and planning to visit the US on February. Do I need a visitor visa when I get back here? Thanks!
If you currently have a US visa, you don't need a TRV to come back into Canada. You can apply for one if you want still though.

Yes I have a US Visa. But coming in to Canada won't they look for a visitor visa? Or is there an exemption if you're coming from the US?

Applicants can't request a file transfer. I've seen a few people who mentioned that IRCC transferred their file to the local VO (would be New Delhi if it's India) if TRV is under process and the applicant has travelled outside of Canada. So was wondering if the same happened to your friend.

My TRV just got stamped today in my passport (It was approved on Dec 2, I then mailed to them on Dec 3).
But the validity only matches the expiry date of my PGWP (Dec 16, 2023), not my passport expiry date (Jun 25, 2025).
I know some people got TRV until their passport expiry date (V-1 type in the Counterfoil)
Well, better than nothing...

Canada and US have an understanding meaning if you have a valid permit (study permit or work permit) and have a valid US visa, you don't need a visiting visa to travel in and out of Canada. I've done it myself severally with no issues.

Thats good to know! Thank you so much for this! I still applied for a TRV though but Im just worried I wont get it before my intended travel.

I couldnt find anything about this online though. I'm just worried if I'm leaving the US and for some reason they dont know about this then I need to provide proof that this rule exists.
