Did you also submit notarized invitation letter? Looks like this is a requirement for spouse TRV.
No, where do you see notarized letter as a requirement? I just wrote one on a word document and name at the bottom.

On the new portal, there isn't even a place for invitation letter. There is additional documents section with 2MB limit where I had to fit itineary, travel insurance etc.

You are right, invitation letter is mandatory but notarized letter is not. The page says notarization maybe required which is confusing.

Hello Everyone

Need some advice.
I am PR of Canada and my husband is a resident of New Zealand. Currently, I am living with my husband in New Zealand on visitor visa. I want to apply for my husband's canada visitor visa. I am just confused if i should select unite with family or simply visit or tourist category. Also, in the past about 6 years back my husband got canada study visa refusal.
If I go for unite with family what should i mention in the invitation letter and the application also ask for present address of spouse. I am not in Canada at the moment so which address should i fill.
Please reply.
If you have been staying with your spouse longterm in NZ and you aren’t in NZ temporarily it would not be considered reuniting with your family. Your current residential address would be in NZ. How long have your been in NZ and do you plan on returning to Canada without your husband? Do you have a home (rental or owned) in Canada sitting empty because you are temporarily visiting NZ? A job in Canada are you are on vacation? If you answered yes to both the questions then you likely have a current Canadian address. Without knowing I how long your have been in NZ it is hard to comment.

What is the exact announcement then? Apply for spouse TRV and maybe it will be approved just like any other TRV application? What is the point of this announcement?
The announcement was that many more applicants will be approved and that the spouses arriving in Canada will be able to qualify for OWPs. There had already been an increased number of spouses receiving TRV starting during Covid. Precovid almost no spouses of citizens or PRa received TRVs. This is partially an attempt to get more people into the workforce to meet labour demands while spouses are unlikely to need additional housing which is one of the big issue facing newcomers. We have yet to see what will happen to files that have red flags or with minimal relationship history especially in person. Canada’s is trying to allow spouse in true relationships reunite faster in Canada, trying to increase the number of workers in Canada but also making sure to prevent those who may be trying to exploit the immigration system or are not in genuine relationships from entering Canada. It is very difficult and expensive to deport someone after they have entered Canada which is one of the reasons why spouses weren’t able to enter Canada before sponsorship in the past. All screening and interviews were typically done before a spouse entered Canada unless the spouse was already in Canada usually as a student or working. In that case they likely had a pathways to PR on their own expect if they were a failed asylum seeker. Political announcements and what actually happens are often different so we will have to see what happens after the announcement and how IRCC deals with cases that typically required interviews because of red flags and cases in general. We will have a better idea after multiple months but really after a full year. The word will have to spread that one can apply for sponsorship without guaranteed denial. Many didn’t even try to apply for a TRV because they assumed they would be denied.

The other big issue is that many will discover that they don’t qualify for health coverage in many provinces as visitors. Once you get a OWP and you start working full-time and in Ontario working full-time and in a job that will last over 6 months then you will qualify for public healthcare. Many may only discover this after they arrive in Canada and I worry for those with chronic conditions but also for women who will arrive pregnant. A large number will not have the funds to pay for care out of pocket.

I mean the issue of visitors not qualifying for health coverage was there even before this family reunification news as well. People should buy travel insurance until they qualify for provincial.

I have started the application last night it was so easy. For biometric it only as if you already submitted biometric, and for medical you just enter the IME number if you already passed medical. I am just waiting for my husband to print his statement of account and the fact that we have 3 kids included in the application I stated that I will be supporting financially too.
If i apply for my spouse TRV can i show my bank statement? And which portal i should use GC KEY or the other Trv portal?

A very small fraction of Outland applicants were able to enter Canada and that is going to change so it will make quite a considerable difference. Many do not take out travel insurance and if you are already pregnant most of the medical care involved with pregnancy is not covered by travel medical insurance and neither is anything related to most pre-existing conditions or routine care.

I think you will need a family class sponsorship to apply for this new trv or owp. After all, this new campaign is for faster family reunification.

The target of this new announcement is that if you have a current sposnosorship in progress and the chances of it getting approved anyways is you can apply for trv so that they can reunite the families and the bonus part about this is you can apply owp permit too.

The owp permit for me is to integrate the trv people in Canada so that they can be truly be a part of the economy.
Not sure if you have applied yet or not. AOR and Sponsorship Approval - both are critical pieces after which you may apply for TRV - as those 2 pieces maximize the chances of approval of TRV.

Yes. I have both of these. I have a current spousal sponsorship hence I applied for trv.
