I am a Canadian citizen and completed the application for her as her representative. We selected other with "COVID-19" as the reason for her visit, so hopefully it's processed quicker than the 245 days average. We also submitted the imm0006 form via email and received the autoreply.

12nov20 Applied online from Bahrain
22nov20 Sent email to ircc explaining my relationship and not aware of the imm0006 form.
11dec20 Got a reply on email from ircc on to submitt imm0006 form along with proof of relationship to process application.
18dec20 Sent imm0006 form with all the required docs.
04jan21 got 3 messages on my cic account for passport request, exemption approval to travel with multiple entry 6months validity and biometrics update.
05jan21 passport sent through courier to Abu dabhi.
11jan21 visa stamped expected courier to reach by tomorrow.

Yes the biometric request is automatic. It doesn't meant they have started processing. You should have included the notarized IM0006 with your application under proof of relationship. That is the requirement for those who do not already have a TRV. The email option is for those holding TRV already. Anyway, you can always resend it by webform quoting your Application number and UCI. Remember to tell them you sent it by email already as well.

No. You can send a itinerary generated by the airline that’s issued prior to buying the ticket. But never buy the ticket
Not at all. IRCC advise against making any travel arrangements. In place of itinerary, I just uploaded a screenshot of my itinerary generated on expedia.ca without paying for the ticket. Just a random search for the proposed two way flight.

My brother applied for TRV from Dubai UAE on December 7th, 2020. Yesterday he got travel authorization approval in his IRCC account. Not sure if it is a good sign or not because TRV application is still not approved.
I applied on Dec 16th, 2020. Still not received any updates on authorization or TRV. Can you please update here when your brother receives TRV? Thanks!
