You can try again, but if he doesn't dramatically change his application, the results will be the same.

Those reasons give by CIC are generic.

1. Most likely means CIC suspects he will overstay his visa. This is a problem for CIC - a lot of people have lied about visiting in the past, so now it's very hard to get a visa. A wife in the country makes the overstay even more risky.

2. Probably means he didn't show enough financial support for a visit. About $2000 per month is recommended OR proof family will lodge you.

Can you tell me your status in Canada? What documents your husband submitted? The important ones are financial (proof of funds, lodging) and intent to leave Canada/strong ties to home country.

Dong forget to tell me your status. If you're on a work permit, include your NOC code or category (A, B etc).

All and all, it sounds like a good application. The problem is mainly having a wife in Canada. It's nothing about you or him. It's people who lied in the past -they ruin visiting for many people.

If you're married, he could ask for a work permit if you're studying. I'm not as familiar with this process, so I can't give you the best advice but it seems this works more often. He is not required to find work. He can visit. The permit would be valid as long as your study permit. I believe he can leave Canada and return (for another visit or to find work if he decides) BUT I'm not sure! A lot of people recommend the work permit for students. Plus, if you decide you cannot bear to be apart, he would be allowed to stay in Canada and work. (Salaries are generally lower than the UAE, but what is money when you have love? Hehe!)

I would suggest going to International Students section and look for SPOUSE OWP, spousal OWP, or open work permit threads. Or just make a new one! :) The experts there will give you advice much better than me.

Personally, I wouldn't waste money on a lawyer. I talked to one when I did my PR application and he was clueless. The help here is much better.

Sorry, my last reply wasn't too helpful. I was using my phone in bed to type.... very annoying. (I can't sleep most nights!) So I got up and will give you some pages to look at.

Here is the page for dependant work permits: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work-spouse.asp

Work permit: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/work.asp
- He will probably need another application for TRV also. Frustrating, I know.
- read the instruction guide first. These guides are very helpful: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5487ETOC.asp

He'll definitely need a copy of your study permit and a copy of your marriage certificate.

One thing to think about too - because I can hear the stress in your words - it's the middle of the night in Canada. This forum is quiet this time of day. It will have more users as day shifts to this side of the world.

Yeah, he'll have to apply for a TRV as well. It's on the webpage from CIC.

He would be a TFW - temporary foreign worker if he gets a job. Until then, he's a dependant (of you).

He would fill out both applications, pay for both, and mail together unless his TRV is approved. Then I think he can apply for the work permit when he enters Canada with the proper documents (marriage certificate, copy of your study permit). So for the TRV, he would need the same documents as before. If you made copies, you can use those. The guides will tell you exactly which documents - he will still need to show proof of ties back home. Home being his home country. Not the UAE.

Take a deep breath. From what I see, the work permit is much more successful than a TRV. A lot of couples use it to be together in Canada or to visit each other.
