Hi all,
I applied for an extension of my trp/owp in November 2017 and today I received a refusal letter which reads.

Your case has been examined with reference to the possibility of issuing you a temporary resident permit and a work permit. After a careful and sympathetic review, it has been determined that there are insufficient grounds to merit the issuance of a permit in your case at this time .

As a temporary resident permit is not issued to you and you are otherwise not eligible to receive an open work permit that application is also refused.

What can I do next? Please help

TRPs are only supposed to be issued under compelling circumstances, especially when it benefits Canada in some way. You obviously no longer meet the criteria for issue and it's been refused. You probably have no recourse at this stage. You will need to return to the standard mechanism for obtaining temporary or permanent resident status in Canada now that you are no longer eligible for the TRP.

Realistically it's time to leave Canada. You're out of status at this point and likely don't have any options for restoring your status.

The only potential option is if you are married to a Canadian or in a common law relationship with a Canadian - then that Canadian can apply to sponsor you for PR.

Arrived in canada 2016 on a skilled worker visa, employer was abusive & wanted to exploit me and had to leave employer with assistance of rcmp, applied for trp/owp twice while rcmp conducted investigation and in September 2017 rcmp sent me an email saying the file has been closed and they are not pressing chargers against employer, trp/owp expired in November 2017 and this refusal is the one l submitted in november 2017

You cam still apply for common law sponsorship but you can't apply for an OWP while you out of status. Why haven't you applied already?

During the processing of the refused TRP/OWP l lost my passport and l had to inform cic about the development, they sent me a letter stating that l needed to have a valid passport for the duration of my stay in canada, l received a new passport a month ago and l updated cic, l could not apply for anything else without a valid travel document.
