Hi there everyone,

I would love someone clarification on my situation:

My girlfriend (Canadian citizen) and I (British citizen) have been living together in Indonesia since March 30th 2018 and have a shared house lease agreement & shared bank accounts in Indo & Canada. Our lease agreement is up on March 30th but we plan to leave Indonesia on March 18th to travel together in England before flying to Canada to apply for my PR via Common-law sponsorship route.

Do we need to stay in Indonesia until March 30th before leaving for Canada or does it not matter because we will be travelling together the whole time?

I suppose we would just need to supply evidence of our flight tickets with both names and also hotel bookings with both names on?

Any clarification/advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks everyone :)

I dont believe it matters where you live, just as long as it is 12 months at least. Keep all proof. Good luck.

We did the travel thing as proof of common law. We documented flight ticket, accommodations and made a quick spreadsheet of passport entry/exit stamps that were corresponding to each other. It’s a pain, but possible if you present it properly.

Great thanks very much to everyone for their replies! I will make sure that we have evidence of flight tickets & hotel receipts with both names on.
