Hi everyone!

I am applying for my mom to come visit me in Canada for 2 weeks on August 1st. I am submitting the application today.

Do you think it is too close to the travel date?
If you got approved for a TRV, how much in advance did you submit the application?

Thanks!!!

Hope you have not booked confirmed flight tickets before the TRV is issued. If you have booked then hope you have booked refundable tickets/date change allowed.

One must consider the estimated processing time posted on the CIC website + up to 10 days for passport transmission..... for travel plans

Congrats montrealguy. I wonder why are there such inconsistencies and discrepancies in the processing time.. I have been waiting for my trv for 23 days and no news yet.. :(
Applying from Singapore where the processing time stated in the website is 21 days (same as El Salvador)

Good luck sonnabend!

Did you apply online or by paper?

I received a few emails stating the application was updated but nothing shown on the website, and finally, after 5 days, it was updated with the passport request.

A friend of mine got approved in under 24 hours, also from El Salvador!

Thanks! I shall keep my fingers crossed.
I applied online what about you? I also received three emails about the application update 1 day, 2 days and 1 week after I have submitted the application. After that I haven't heard anything from them yet.
My purpose of visit is short term studies though (going for an exchange semester to HEC Montreal for 4 months-TRV instead of study permit is sufficient for course less than 6 months) maybe that's why it's taking a bit longer?

24 hours!! I'm getting really jealous now. It's so unfair that some people have to wait for weeks, feeling anxious and tormented while some people don't ???

Yes, I applied online aswell.

I have a feeling that depending on your initial answers to the questions in the application, it takes different amounts of time.
For example, our friend answered that his mom depended on him for financial support. We answered no to that question. Basically the answers to the other questions were similar so the applications may be distributed to different 'queues', if that makes sense.

Keep us posted on your result and good luck!

Just to update you guys.
Application submitted 24 June in Singapore
Passport Request 23 July 12:02PM Singapore Time

That's kinda weird as I got the request on Saturday when they're supposed to be not in the office!
Anyway I'm glad to get it finally after 30 days!
