Traveling before PR card arrives? Need temp return visa?

Could someone point me in the right direction, Incase my PR card doesnt arrive before I need to travel overseas what do I need to do?

I hear I will need to obtain a 1 time re-entry visa correct? where can I get that?

Really appreciate your help.

In such case, go to the nearest Canadian consulate/embassy to apply for a travel document for PR.

*U need to fetch the 'PRTD-A31(3)' from the CHC of that country.

Just that if you r traveling to US west coast, Seattle is more nearer than Buffalo.

What is the “travel document” referred to in A31(3)?
An applicant seeking a formal determination of residency status must first submit an application
for a travel document under A31(3) (IMM 5524E). This travel document allows permanent
residents of Canada to return home and to resume their residency in Canada [A31(3)]. It is
printed on the same key control form (IMM 1346-A) as the temporary resident and permanent
resident visas, and it is distinguished from the other types of visas printed on the counterfoil by
the coding (see section 19 below).
The travel document referred to in A31(3) is not a status document. Rather, it is a Canadian
immigration document issued in lieu of a status document—the status document in this case
being the permanent resident card. (For more on the travel document and its relationship to the
permanent resident card, see section 5.3 above.) It is also important not to confuse the travel
document referred to in A31(3) with those travel documents referred to in R50(1), which are
issued by foreign governments to their citizens in lieu of a passport or other identity document.

If u r a resident of the UK, London would be a better/wiser option for u to fetch that.

The requirement for the P.R. card is aimed at the airline more than the Government of Canada for those who come from countries that require visas to travel to Canada. The immigration officer will be able to easily figure out if you are a P.R. if you carry your COPR. You would likely have to go to immigration secondary screening, but it should not take more than a few minutes.

If you carry a U.K. passport, you are able to enter Canada without a visa. If you are flying on Air Canada, British Airways, or another major carrier, you will likely be able to board the flight without the PRTD. (If you are on Air Transat or a carter carrier, GET A PRTD since those carriers will not let you board.) I carry a U.S. passport, and I was able to travel in and out of Canada by air before I got a P.R. card. My Japanese friend lost her P.R. card in Japan, and she was able to re-enter Canada wihtout difficulty.

If you choose not to get a PRTD, please carry your COPR and the passport that contains the used immigrant visa.
