Travel to USA on Canada PR card

Hi All
Just wanted to know is it possible to travel to USA (for visiting friends) without any visa and just your Canada PR card?
If not, then what is the visa that is required and can that be done from within Canada or it has to be done from your homeland?

The USA does not care if you are a PR or not. If you needed a visa to the US before you got your PR, you will still need one after you got your PR. You can apply for a visa to the US at the US embassy in Canada.
