Dear Forum Members,

I have got my tickets confirmed for 14 Feb on Emirates for Calgary to complete the landing at POE. On my ticket the Transit time at Heathrow Airport is 2 hours while coming from Dubai and landing via Terminal 3 and catching the next flight on Terminal 5. Is the 2 hours time enough? Seeing the distance between these two terminals and also the formalities. Please note that my checked beggage is booked from Islamabad to Calgary and at Heathrow we shall be coming out with hand luggage only. As I am travelling first time on this route, there is a little doubt that I request forum members with previous experience of travel to explain for me.

check this link . thanks

Terminal 3 International Connecting to Terminal 5 International
Connection time: 90 minutes*

Your step-by-step connection plan is as follows.

Welcome to Heathrow!
On leaving the aircraft, please follow the purple signs for Flight Connections.

Connections bus
A dedicated bus will transfer you between terminals. Buses are free and depart every six to ten minutes.

Airline desks
Need to visit your airline's ticket desk? You'll find it here.

Ready to fly
Staff will check your ticket to ensure you're in the right place, that your hand baggage meets airline regulations, and that you have enough time to catch your onward flight.

Hand baggage check
At this point your hand baggage will be checked to ensure it conforms to UK and EU regulations. Please be aware that liquids in containers over 100ml are not allowed through security.
More information about security

Security screening
You will pass through security screening at this point. If you are a non-UK resident and have goods to declare to HM Customs, please use the Customs telephone before security control.

Departure lounge
Check the screens in the departure lounge, which will be updated when your gate opens and again when your flight is ready for boarding. If you've time to spare, the departure lounge has plenty of facilities to help you relax, including restaurants, shops and seating areas. Please note there are limited facilities at the departure gates.
* Minimum connection times
The connection time shown is the standard minimum connection time between terminals published by IATA (the International Air Transport Association). Heathrow Airport Limited is not responsible for the accuracy of this information, nor for any disruption to your journey which this information may cause.

Dear C n B,

Many thanks for your usual support. I had read it is written 90 minutes. But I wanted to hear the experience from those who have actually travelled. Because I am travelling with two kids as well. Is the time of 2 hours sufficient? or one hardly manage to catch up?

I think it would be enough otherwise that connection ticket wouldn't have issued to you..Though it would be more helpful if some one shares personal experience....Thanks

Thanks once again :D

I found this personal experience for you..Please check all posts on this thread..Its seems very simple..

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/american-aadvantage/816641-ba-t5-aa-t3-transfer-connection-lhr-heathrow-obsolete-trailing-thread.html

I did T3 to T5 two days ago and it was an absolute breeze. I didn't time it, but it must have been less than an hour from touchdown from LAX to the T5 Galleries lounge. Everything was smooth and my checked bag even made it to EDI. All in all, a good experience.

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/american-aadvantage/816641-ba-t5-aa-t3-transfer-connection-lhr-heathrow-obsolete-trailing-thread-3.html

Our recent experience with a 2.5 hour connection T3 - T5 was eminently easier than previous LHR terminal changes - using Flight Connections Centre seemed speedier, the bus has increased its frequency and it took perhaps 35 minutes from arrival in T3 from ORD to arriving in the Galleries First lounge in the appropriate wing for our departure to OTP (though flight departure gates are not posted until fairly close to departure, staff can tell you the usual departure wing.)

But... security is more TSA-like (shoes off in all cases, etc. though this seems to vary on some days,) and our USA cabin-OK rollaboards were counter checked because they did not exactly fit the confines of the carry-on baggage template. The bags did arrive at OTP on our flight, but were not marked Priority (we were in Business and are both oneworld Emerald) or the like, and one of the two bags was amongst the last few delivered to the baggage carousel.

T5 is obviously designed as airport terminal cum upscale shopping centre - but the prices, though they may even be duty free, are certainly far from profit free. I certainly spotted no bargains here.

Our experiences T5 to T3 Wednesday July 2 were quite similar - it did not take long, thoguh US departure shoe carnival etc. does take a little time, and we were soon in the Flagship Lounge. When we emerged for the walk to the distant gate, a chap drove us there n an electric cart, and told us this would not longer be possible in the near future due to the dividers being installed to separate arriving and departing passengers.

excellent information!
one more though, do we need transit visas?? between Terminal 3 to Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport??

Dear Hari

At the time of boarding from Dubai For UK , advice emirates staff at Dubai Airport to drop message onwards to your connecting airline that you are on your way. One this message is passed from system , they will wait for you , even if you get late by 15 minutes.

Please use Train / tram for moving in between terminals.
You will have no problem , as all international airports have well displayed sign boards.

Best of luck for your new life- Ameen
