what is the expire date on your passport?

when is your exam?

Just to let you know, the processing time for the Certificate of Identity is around 20 business day (Exclude weekends and holidays for this month) so if you apply say, this coming Monday, you will receive your Certificate of Identity by NOV 1, 2016
My exam is on 15 December 2016 and the expiry date on my passport is 23 February 2017.

So you recommend me to apply for certificate of identity and go to the exam center and tell them about my new identification number ?

but in this case, they will need the original passport which will be kept with them( passport Canada ) till it expired.right ?

no, your passport will be returned to you with the certificate of identity which will be by Nov 1, 2016 if you apply by Monday. They will NOT take your passport or keep it with them. You have a plenty of time.

I see no problem with you using your country ID for the exam center but then you will need to use that ID number with all related things that need that exam result. that's all.

Also, you can phone your exam center and ask them, would would happen if I update my ID #? When do you need it?

But personally, I wouldn't contact the exam center or tell them I have another ID as some people working there, they won't UNDERSTAND what you are talking about, and that may confuse them. To be safe, just your own country for the exam.

Also, you can wait until your exam is over then you can apply for the certificate of identity.

you have a lot of options to choose from. choose what best fits your current needs.

YES, you can send it to them. you are not applying for a travel document. Since you are a refugee and you have your permanent resident status, you must apply for the Certificate of identity

Don't say crap. Certificate of identity is for stateless people. If u possess your national passport (expired or not) you are not stateless. And application form is the same for both types of documents. It's Passport Canada to decide which type to issue in every single case.

First of all, I don't say CRAP. This forum for people to help each other, and I was in the same situation like her before. I was a refugee before. First Passport Canada gave me a travel document as I was refugee in Canada without being a permanent resident, then they gave me the certificate of identity when I became a permanent resident and now I am a Canadian citizen :) .

Secondly, Complete your sentence and don't say crap like "Certificate of identity is for stateless people". According to Passport Canada, "Certificates of identity are issued to permanent residents of Canada who are not yet Canadian citizens, who are otherwise stateless or unable, for a valid reason, to get a national passport or travel document from any source." http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/passport/travel-documents/types.asp.]http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/passport/travel-documents/types.asp.]http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/passport/travel-documents/types.asp.

Being a refugee in Canada means you are not allowed or Unable (the word used in the immigration lanaguge) for a valid reason, to get a national passport or travel document from any source. Being unable to get or renew you own passport is enough for immigration to issue the certificate of the identity provided that you a permanent resident of Canada.

If you are so smart, ask people on this forum how many of them got travel document being PR, and how many certificate of identity. May be after that you will understand that you are saying CRAP.

encantado is absolutely right. When I got protected person status I obtained travel document. Then I became a permanent resident and again I was issued a travel document. Not a certificate of identity.

P.S. It's so pathetic to ask other members of this forum to rate your answers....

Why don't you ask them first to see how "crappy" your answers are before describing people's answers as "crap"?

It's not an appropriate language to use in an open forum. But I think some people have not developed a good behavior to communicate online. If you disagree with someone, you could politely clarify your points without being defensive and disagreeable.

First, there is nothing wrong to ask people to rate your answer if they feel you spent some time writing to them and you tried to answer them. We live an technological era. I think you are not used to do this yet.

Secondly, it's possible to disagree without being disagreeable, and keep in that it's not good and respectful to use a language that is not appropriate in an open forum. Just saying for your professional behaviour. Thanks

man, if you simply don't want to admit that you were wrong it's not a way out to be pissed off to other people, and there is nothing in common with respect.
and if other people feel thankful for your answers they will rate them without you to remind.

First it's not good to address someone as a man...I may be a woman..just saying

Is it not about admitting I was wrong or not. We are not on a trail court. There are a lot of possibilities when it comes to immigration, and you guys may have experienced and no one knows. My answers were based on my experiences.

However, the way he's and you describing other people's answers as " crap" or " pathetic" is a not good and respectful manner especially in an open forum. He or you could have simply said I don't agree with you because in my case this and this happened to me. Manners speak louder.

1. stop teaching others how to behave and what to say. "crap", "man" are just regular words used in every day conversations. there is nothing abusive in them. if you feel like that then don't communicate in forums.
2. "my experience" - on two pages of your conversation there is no a single word that it's your personal experience. conversely, you present everything like there are no other options and the person must do only how you explained.

Hi folks,

I am new and I have a question. Could you please share the process for getting the Travel Document?

After submitting the refugee claimant, how long does it take to receive the Travel Document?

Please answer..
