You will need to make sure any recalls are done on the car with a letter from the dealer stating that, and make arrangements with US CBP to export the car from the US as well.

Thanks for replying Rob, I will get everything ready before I move. I honestly did a lot research already. I also called Canadian custom yesterday. Twice with 2 different officer, 1st one was rude and angry about my situation. 2nd one was really nice and helpful, did not say anything about RO... I think luck is a big thing here... I know I can not sponsor my wife and kids, but I have same problem within US... Spouse visa does not allow she to work...
Well, your spouse cannot work in Canada either. Until after you stay 2 years to meet your RO, then apply to sponsor her for PR and then possibly waiting for another 4 months for OWP.

yes for sure. I have done some research and I do believe what materials I need to prepare before departure. Still really appreciate for your advising.

For your car, make sure the car is ready to be imported (so is modified up to Canadian safety standards, is owned outright so no loan on it, etc etc). I think at some border crossings you should make an appointment to import the car (there is lots of info online or on this forum on the topic). You will need to pay all taxes, fees, duties etc depending what province it's being imported to and where the car was made.

Note that if you're reported for not meeting the RO, there's a chance you'll have your PR status revoked in the next few years and asked to leave Canada, so would then need to import it back from Canada to USA.

And as mentioned, if you do get into Canada without being reported, you must then stay here 2 straight years without leaving even once for any reason, to come back into compliance with the RO. During these 2 years you can't sponsor your wife and kid, so they must continually apply to extend their visitor status and hope it's accepted. Your wife will be unable to work all this time (unless she can get a work permit independently). Heatlhcare coverage will depend on province, but in most provinces visitors are not covered so if this is the case you need 2+ years of travel medical insurance for them and they wouldn't be covered for routine things like checkups, vaccinations, etc etc.
Hi Rob_TO,
I have another question for you.
As I hope to stay 2 straight years to renewal my PR card or just stay longer to just get the citizenship, how important it is for me to file the tax this year? I have not live in Canada for more than a month last year, and all my income are from US. I have heard they will require you to have recent 5 years' tax filling information to renewal PR card. How big this influence will affect me? As I am thinking to move back in early May which means I may pass the deadline of tax filing.

Just willing to let everybody know that, I came back to Canada this May without any issue! No one asked me about anything at the custom. Now, I have got a job in Toronto. Everything works fine for me at this moment.
Thanks, everybody!

@Claudio034: Hello Dear!!! Could you please share your experience at the POE? Where did you cross through? In private vehicle or pedestrian bridge? What time did you show up at the POE? Did they give you enough time to explain your circumstances/ situation?

Hi Noman,
I did drive back with my vehicle which was full of luggages(super full, pretty much home moving~). I went thru the Ambassador Bridge between Detroit and Windsor in the early morning to avoid the crowd. I think I was pretty lucky since the customs' officer really did not ask me a lot. They pretty much just asked me what I did in the US and I just answered I finished schooling and going back home. They did ask me to lower my rear windows to see if there were any passengers, but they did not check anything back there. I passed POE maybe in 5 minutes, very quickly.
I believe the tough thing was the importation of my vehicle, that took a long time. But I have got my Ontario plates on now.

Not sure how this doesn't get flagged on a computer. Heard they are implementing it but why have rules if half the time they're not enforced:rolleyes:
