Translation outside Canada

Hi everyone,

I just received the translation of my wife's police certificate. It includes the translation, an affidavit and a copy of the police certificate. All pages, except for the copy, were stamped and signed by the translator.

In the affidavit the translator states:

"In my capacity as a translator for the English language, duly commissioned and sworn in the Federal State of Brandenburg, Germany, I hereby certify the foregoing translation of a document worded in the German language, an uncertified copy of which is attached, to be correct and complete."

Now I just need to take the original certificate to a notary public and get it notarized, right? The IRCC officer will then compare the copy (attached to the translation) to the certified copy? Or does the entire translation incl. affidavit and copy need to be notarized?

Translation of documents

You must submit the following for any document that is not in English or French, unless otherwise stated on your document checklist:

- the English or French translation; and [got it]
- an affidavit from the person who completed the translation (see below for details); and [got it]
- a certified copy of the original document. [still needed]​

Usually the notary public can provide document certified services.

You need to send the original PCC so last step is useless here

I think I will just send the translation, the affidavit and the original police certificate. Getting a certified copy would probably cost more than getting a new certificate. I will let you know if IRCC refuses to accept my documents.

Ok guys, my wife received her confirmation of permanent residence a few days ago.
Translation + affidavit + original police certificate = no issues
A copy of the certificate was also attached to the translation and affidavit by the translator.
