Transit visa question

We are planning for soft landing and I have a transit visa question. Hopefully some people can share their similar experience.

We are planning for the following trip,

Saudi Arabia ------> Frankfurt-Germany-Airport------->Canada

stay for 3 weeks then back to Saudi Arabia,

Canada ------> Frankfurt-Germany-Airport------->Saudi Arabia

My wife is from a country that requires a transit visa in Germany. On the Germany embassy site they mentioned that, if you have a valid Canadian visa, the transit visa will be waived. Also on the way back, the transit visa will also be waived if you have used the Canadian visa you had. As you know, the immigration visa my wife has is a single entry visa which means that this visa will no longer be valid when we return to Saudi Arabia and use Frankfurt airport as a connection. The PR card will take more than 45 days to be issued and we cannot wait.

This what is mentioned on the embassy site,

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
you hold a valid visa for a Member State of the EU, Canada, Japan or the United States of America, or on your return from these countries having used the visa
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I already emailed the Germany embassy in Riyadh but it is taking a lot of time to get their feedback and I am in a rush to book the tickets to avoid high prices.

Anybody faced similar situations?
Can you share your experience?

Thanks in advance.

The embassy site clearly mentions you need a "valid" visa on your outbound journey, which your wife has (the single entry immigrant visa). It also states that on your return journey you must have used the visa, which your wife will have used by the time she returns. Yes, the single entry immigrant visa will not be valid anymore, but all they want to see is that she actually went to Canada and used up her visa and is now going back home (Saudi Arabia). If you are going through Germany, I would suggest print out this whole web page and carry with you. In case someone stops you at the airport, you can show that the website mentions this clearly.

If they give a positive response in their email, you can print it out too. That would be the best thing to carry along with the print out of the webpage. But I know they are taking too long. Why not call them up and tell them you have emailed them and you need a response asap.

I would suggest buying your air tickets from a good travel agency. Tell them your situation and let them help you. They deal with passengers like you and your wife all the time and they know how Frankfurt Airport handles immigration/transit visas. If the airline/immigration denies you boarding, you can hold the travel agency responsible and force them to place you on another flight, covering all extra costs (if that is how travel agency regulations work in Saudia Arabia). I know buying tickets from travel agencies could cost a little more than the prices you find online, but paying that extra money is beneficial because you can call the agency up and ask them to find a solution if you face problems at the airport.

The other way is definitely flying a different route that does not have visa complications, even if it cost a little more.

I contacted the German Consulate in Toronto and they confirmed that my wife can fly back home via Frankfurt airport without any issues.

Thanks for your help
