Hi folks,

Sorry for absent from this forum for a while. I have some information want to share with you.

It's a really bad time for the market now, here in Calgary. I'm currently working for an engineering and design firm company, and couple weeks recently, there are lot of employees got laid off, due to shortage of projects and workload. It scares the crap out of me to I think what could happen if I got laid off.

So, I called the AINP representative, asking what would happens and here is what they told me:

For the Engineering Occupations Category or the Strategic Recruitment Stream in general, immigration process won't be stopped if the applicants got laid off. Applicants just need to notify the PNP office that they're no longer working for that employer.

Only those applicants who sponsored by the employers like the Employer-Driven Stream, immigration process will be affected if applicants got laid off.

This information is what I was told by the representative from Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program. For other provinces, I have no idea if they apply the same concept like Alberta.

Good to see your conversations which is really eye opening situations for people trying to get in...

its true... situation in calgary is getting poor and i heard the same news from other offices located in that region. Seems like whole thing started with reduced volume of import from USA... US is whipping all countries now a days... lolz...

so suggest to wait for situation to get improve else engineers will have tough competition even on Subway to get employed...lolzzzz

Hi Guys
I have a question regarding RCMP criminal check:
I did send original sealed RCMP criminal check. I got it done at L1 IDENTITY SOLUTIONS Calgary. I went through the finger printing and it was sent to RCMP Ottawa electronically and I received RCMP criminal check document in a sealed envelope (in about 8-10days) which I included in my application to CIO.

Q: I have seen lot of discussion about this doc. I want to know is what i did, Did I do it correctly? Is it what is required or something different? I never went to any police office etc.
