Hi Veterans!
After deep considerations, I deem it necessary to share with this great forum an issue of concern that i have been grappling with. My wife that happens to be the Principal applicant is in the last trimester of her pregnant and we will receive our request for medicals from Accra VO very soon. Often, i ve heard pregnant women are not allowed to undergo X-ray (as the rays might harm the baby) which is an integral part of the whole medical process. If so, how does this affect our application process with respect to the Medical Request and moreso, what advice would you give to us to achieve the most desirable results.
Note: THIS IS TO EVERYONE AND AUTHORITATIVE AND RELIABLE REFERENCES CAN BE CITED.
Thank you all. Your contributions would be treasured
We got the MR on April 5, 2013.
We had the same issue as you. My wife she was in her second trimester when we did the medical exam. We didn't want to delay our process and meanwhile neighter did we want to harm our baby.
After consulting with some professinals and the doctor conducting our medical exam, one low dose Chest X-Ray is same as you take one flight.
It is safe enough to do so as long as you ask the X-Ray technician to put shield onto your wife's belly.
And also the older the baby, the safer to do X-Ray. My wife she did the X-Ray when the baby was 24 weeks old.
Basically, no doctor wil recommend your pregnent wife to do X-Ray.
It's all up to you to make the decision, as what we were told.
After we have done medical exam on April 9, 2013. My pregnent wife she had another tooth X-Ray at another dentist office on April 17, 2013 because one of her teeth needed to be fixed.
We shared our concern of doing X-Ray with our Specilist (baby doctor), she said that was fine, no need to worry too much.
Below is the link that I found before we underwent the Chest X-Ray.

Hope the above information helps!
Good luck for the rest!
