Hi all

Im from Pakistan. I got my Provincial Nominee Approval letter (LOA) few days back. Now I have to apply to CIO, Nova Scotia.

I went to Western Union today, they'll give me a bank draft tomorrow. I have a query regarding to CIO acceptable Bank Draft.

I read some where in PNP forum that "Only bank drafts containing the name and complete address of the Canadian bank will be accepted." What does this mean? I have to mention that from where it can be encashed?

Did you mention any bank's name on it to whom it should be payable to?

As Western Union Personnel said that there is no need to mention any Canadian bank's name on draft. Each Local Bank's draft in CAD is acceptable if it is addressed to "Receiver General for Canada”.

I'll really appreciate if you answer my query.I dont want to get my application back due to incorrect payment.

Regards

Yes, no need to mention any local bank draft as long as it is payable to Receiver General For Canada and the amount is in CAD $. However, in USA, Western Union told me they wouldn't issue me a bank draft. Please double check that it is a BANK DRAFT...and NOT a money order.

Update from my side....I was done with my medical tests today (May, 29). It cost me $385.00 ;D. I got the appointment fairly quickly. It took about 1 and 1/2 hours to complete the test. It was simple and hassle free. I was partially naked for the exam though :-[. I am expecting my results by Friday.

385$ is a lot :(
I have to go today too

Thanks for replying. I guess I was misguided. Its not necessary to mention Canadian Bank name on it. It shud be in CAD & payable to "Receiver General of Canada" & thats it.

Western Union are gonna make a bank draft from Local Bank.

Regards

I just checked the copy of my bd. it shows a local Canadian bank in Torronto under PAYABLE AT. So, I am assuming your local bank something written on the bd. more likely, it has to be a local partnered bank in Canada. Let's know. Good luck. But use CC to track better!

With my bank draft, the bank wrote: ...payable to "THE RECEIVER GENERAL FOR CANADA". I wonder they add "THE' is ok?

Thanks,

Danny

We received your application for permanent residence on April 16, 2012
It says Application Received
So it takes around 9 months from now on of ?

@ Danny

It should be THE Receiver General for Canada. Having said that, the article THE will not make any difference. Either way one should be fine.
