Guys don't make me panic. I only included the bio page of my last passport (since Feb 2011), not the older one, simply because it was not required.

My PR application was returned back to me for a very stupid thing, I hope the same won't happen this time...
Bio pages of passport withing 4years timeline are all that is required. I just reconfirm from CIC agent. So no need to worry.

Oh that's so bad, but why do you think your application would now be count under New rule instead of old since you submitted your application on 1st of June?

You've misinterpreted what I wrote. The application which was returned was long ago. I only added how many days of physical presence under the new rules I would have in this application (which is application number 2) out of curiosity since I still qualify nonetheless, regardless of the recent changes.

Do you mind sharing how many days of absences/travel history you have?

I don't have the papers with me right now as I'm away on a trip, but my physical presence days in the last 4 years prior to the application was 1,425. Following the new rule, I'd have 1,940 days on May 28, 2015 (which is when I printed, signed, dated, and mailed my application).

Good to hear, thanks for confirming with the CIC.

Hello Ojeola,

I just went through the cic website and foudout the physical presence for the citizenship changed from 1095 days to 1460 days. (3/4 years)

so my question is if it applies to the new immigrents who came to canada in 2015 after this update or if it applies to everybody who didnt complete 1095 days yet, because i came in june 2013 and at that time the rule was for 1095 days.

Regards

It applies for every PR who didn't apply before the change.

It applies to ALL citizenship applications submitted starting June 11th 2015.

When you came in 2013 maybe the driver license rule were different also but if you apply for the driver license in 2015, they will use the 2015 rules, not 2013 rules. The same here. The law applies to you the moment you apply.

Well, you got 2 more years. So what, not a big deal. Plenty of time to join group of honest immigrant settlers or people trying to stop bill C-24.

I believe our members of the group have already answered your question. The NEW rule will not take into account years WITHOUT PR, so that means it does not matter when you landed.

The only issue I have with 4/6 is that fact that years WITHOUT PR will not be counted. Apart from that I don't have any issues. I see lots of post of people who are thinking about going to court to challenge the RULE. I actually don't see the RULE changing anytime soon even if the LIBERALS got elected

My problem with the new rules is that the processing time will still be significant.
I mean common this is a simple citizenship procedure it should be done in a matter of 1-2months.

The main factor can be attriuted to staff shortage. Most Visa offices are so short handed yet they still receive thousands of applications per year. In coming months or even years, i foresee another increase in application fee once more maybe $800 or even $1,000. Hopefully things will start picking up.

So just an update, one of my friend got his application returned yesterday.

He applied using the 3/4 rule and posted it and was received on 12 June. They returned it telling that he had used the outdated application form.

If the process will last only 2 months a lot of CIC employees would lose their job.

Oh that pretty BAD. But he supposes to have been expecting that based on the result of the tracking number he was provided. Hopefully in a couple of week we can see some progress on AOR.
