Okay guys, I'm hoping a couple of the veterans on this board can shed some wisdom here.

My wife is from a non-Visa exempt country, and before we were married, we did apply for a TRV so she could come here and meet my family and friends. Unfortunately, it was denied. Fast forward to now, where we've married and have already submitted out Outland application December 31st, and it arrived for the sponsor approval January 6th at CIC Mississauga. I (the sponsor) have not received anything from them confirming they've started, and knowing the timeline there, don't expect to for a while.

While I know the odds are not great, we are really wanting to try for the TRV again, mainly for two reasons;

1) We still want her to meet all my friends/family, and (specifically),
2) My dad, who just turned 100, is in frail health and desperately wants to meet his new daughter-in-law.

In fact, neither of my folks could make the wedding in Singapore due to their age and health. The 19 hour flight is hard enough on me, let alone elderly of my parents age.

I guess my questions are this then;

a) Will the TRV cause delay the PR application?
b) In my letter of invitation for the TRV, I'll be asking for consideration of my parents advanced age and health. Your thoughts?
c) We will have to submit an amendment to the PR form where we are asked if we've applied/denied to Canada again, whould we get a repeat refusal on the TRV, correct?

Any other thoughts to these questions?

Any sage words of wisdom? :)

Thanks guys!

A) no it won't,
B) there's a member who sponsored via Singapore and got a TRV, I'll let him speak to that . . . and your chances overall,
C) no, your application is truthful on the date you signed it, that's all you need,

Again, your best advice and input will come from those experienced with the Singapore VO.

A few people I know have been granted TRV's in similar situations. The common things they did was to wait until sponsorship approval before applying for the TRV. They also limited their visit to Canada to about 3 weeks.

In your letter you could mention the status of the PR application, and be sure to show that your spouse has reason to return home after the visit (work, children, etc.). A good description/timeline of the proposed visit would also be helpful - where you intend to go, who you will see, what you will do.

Good luck.

"A few people I know have been granted TRV's in similar situations."

Similar including a recent TRV rejection? I would think she had work, children etc to return to last time as well yet she got rejected anyway. It says quite clearly in the standard rejection letter, "Should you wish to reapply, I would suggest that you do so only if your situation has changed substantively or you have significant new information to submit. --Officer" What would be the substantive change here that would "establish to the satisfaction of the officer that the applicant will respect their conditions of admission and will leave Canada by the end of the period authorized for his or her stay"?

My recommendation would be to get a US visa, and drive one's parents over the border. I got married in the U.S. at a hotel within meters of U.S./Canadian customs in order to facilitate family attendance.

The reference point should be those experienced with getting a TRV on an Indonesian passport. Someone who went through the Singapore VO but is Bangladeshi is not necessarily going to have an applicable experience.
