Hi there!

If you're applying for a TR visa now and your passport is expiring in an year, would the visa be granted only for an year until the passport expiry date?

What would be ideal way to have the visa granted with the complete period please?

Renew your passport and then apply with the new passport?

Can the visa be renewed after your passport renews?
Or does it have to be a new application altogether?

There is no such thing as a renewal. It is a new application. Why is it sad and why would Canadian government issue a longer TRV to an expired passport? Update passport. Problem solved. No guarantee TRV will be approved, and given 10 year validity.

I'm saying it is sad because the visa is needed a soon as possible, and we're going into this knowing that it will expire in an year.

No guarantee try will be approved if we go with a passport expiring in an year? That's what you're saying?

If that's the case, we'll try to update the passport, but not sure if our government allows it to renew this early. Will check on that, thank you.

There is no guarantee of approval even with a new passport. Has person had a Canadian TRV before? Person has to show own funds in cash, travel history, ties to return and valid reasons to travel.

No they haven't. This is their first time. We'll go ahead applying with their current passports then. No choice but to re-apply when the time comes.
