Hello guys,

Just thought of asking those who has an idea or had already experienced this.

My parents are here in Canada as a tourist (single entry) and they will only be staying till early February 2013 since they're almost 6 months already. We did not extend their visa anymore as we still have siblings left back home and for some reasons they need to go home for now.

If ever, we want to re-apply for another tourist visa, assuming for next year.. we are planning to apply for a MULTIPLE VISA this time.. Do you guys know if how long does the VO usually grant the applicant? 3 years? 5 years or 10 years?

Do you think there will be no more chance of rejection since they have been here and went back before their visa expires?

Your thoughts is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

I'll eagerly await some comments too. I thought I read the other day on a CIC web-page that a "super-visa" would be good for ten years, albeit visits stretching no longer than 24 months at a time. I take it that's a different visa than what they have/had??

As regards the length of the visa:
www.canadainternational.gc.ca/philippines/visas/fees-frais.aspx?view=d#schedule

You may be granted a visa valid for up to 10 years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first.

If your parents return back before their visa expires, then it is more likely that they would be granted multiple entry visas. However, your parents would still have to show substantial ties back home.

Supervisa is a more expensive way of getting your parents here.

Super visa also allows you to stay up to 2 years, which a normal visit visa doesn't... so it's different type of visas, depending if it suits your parents better to be in Canada for 2 years and then go home, or have the possibility to come several times, in the course of 2/5 whatever length of visa they are granted...

Thanks guys.. thats really appreciated.

If supervisa is more expensive as they get to stay here for 2 straight years.. We'd rather choose multiple then.. =)

Chances are greater as the record shows they've been here? But ya i agree, family ties back home should still be stronger.

It depends on the cultural practices. In most Asian countries, the parents live with their sons (or vice-versa). Hence, its not easy to get a visit visa for a parent whose only son is in Canada. However, it is easier for his wife's parents to get a visit visa - as usually the in-laws from the wife's side do not have extended stay with their daughters. That way CIC is assured that persons on visit visas do not overstay their visa. Bottom line is - show demonstrable proof that your parents would not overstay the visa - however long the visa is for.

They are still here right now, and leaving next month before their 6 months single entry visa expires.

My parents has business back home and my dad's side are all there. Its only my mom side plus my brother whos here.

We still have siblings back home. Do you think that will suffice? Thanks

it's always difficult to know what will suffice, but the fact that they got a first visa, and complied with the time and left before it was expired will for sure help in the next application, and if you provide the same proofs as this time ( business is a good one, and other siblings etc), then it should all go well - but it's CIC... you won't know before you try!
Good luck,
Sweden

Thank you so much Sweden.. Your insights helped me a lot.. :)

Cross fingers they will get to come back next year as a multiple visa holder. :)

Is there anyone who actually experienced the same? Like you have your parents here as a tourist and re-apply the 2nd time? Please share your experiences and stories on the processing, Thanks

Hi,

@Bryanna @Sweden and others, kindly guide for below -

My friend's wife had visited my friend who is a Canadian PR last October for 2 weeks on a tourist visa citing below home country ties -

Co-owner of an apartment in India
Having a full-time job in India
Taking care of an elderly relative in India
She returned in November last year and is planning to apply for another TRV for 6 months to travel in August, she will cite the same home country ties, has already bought flight tickets (round trip), has a fresh invitation letter from her husband, has funds in non Canadian bank account for 6 months sustenance, please suggest whether she has any chances of rejection.

They are planning to stay together for 6 months in Canada, so as soon as she arrives in Canada, they will initiate the inland spousal sponsorship, will this raise any concern or conflict with her 2nd TRV is approved and issued to her?
