Hi all,

FSW Outland applicant from the UK, aor dec 2019, told application approved in May 2020 but awaiting any progress since (like most Outland FSW applicants).

so a question I have and follow my thought process here:
  • Travel to Canada in September once vaccinated tourists are allowed into the country (from the UK on a 6 month tourism visa)
  • Inform IRCC that I’m now inland
  • Will this speed up my FSW application? What are everyone’s thoughts?

Similar thought in my mind since they announced tourists will be allowed in September. I'm in the UK also but received COPR last October, it's now expired.

The delay in reissuing our COPRs has made me wonder if it would be issued sooner if we travelled over there.

In our case I'm hoping to get news before having to make decision on that.

Seems a risky tactic though, it could be that it would cause more delays by confusing the matter. You could be there six months and they might still not sort your case out. Meanwhile you would expend a lot of funds.

whilst I agree that’s it’s risky, you can ask for an extension on the 6 month visa (move to a visitor record) and the funds spent would be the same unless you need to come back if your PR did not come through and they refused to extend your tourist visa.

and from everything I’ve read, inland applicants are whizzed through the process and people regularly switch from Outland to Inland (I think).

Im honestly in two minds too and hoping I won’t need to make the decision as the PR will come through but worth considering.

Funds wise I'm more referring to the cost of accomodation and day to day living out there without being allowed to work.

I agree it's worth thinking about though. We just have cross our fingers for some good news before then.

FSW inland applicants have the same wait period as FSW outland. Unless you are a CEC candidate, there is nothing you can do even if you have your application changed to inland.
ah really, I must have got confused between CEC candidates and FSW inland. So FSW inland haven’t had apps approved since March 2020? I thought they had the web portal for inland applicants but maybe that’s just for CEC.

I'm thinking about this too. AOR Dec 2020, security not started. I'm planning to do this in maybe January next year, but I'm still not sure. I worry that changing status from outland to inland would cause more delays (e.g. VO transfers) than just waiting for the PPR in my current location. And also about the cost of not being able to work the entire time. I do hope we get some good news soon. I'm so tired of thinking and planning about my uncertain future.
