I got admission in northern college under spp in Toronto for sep intake 2016. I opted one year full time course in International business management.

My profile-
10th- 75%
12th-72%
BBA-63%(passed out in 2014may, degree came in 2015feb)
Job experience- 7 months(2014-nov to june-2015, only having appointment letter and resignation letter, dnt have experience certificate.)

ielts overall 6 bands - L,R,S-6 W-5.5

my quires are...
i) After one year can I extend my study permit?
ii) Is there any chances that my visa can get rejected?
ii) northern college's ranking is very low as compared to other colleges, will it become problematic in getting job and pr in future?
iv) i heard that during study only 8$/hour can b paid to students. if it is so, then 8*20*4=640$/month is enough to survive or extra money will b needed?(accommodation+food+transportation+clothing+recharge ...ll it cover all these expenses?)

Hey,

Your expenses will depend on the type of accommodation you choose. Food and everything can be managed but rents are high in Toronto, which area in particular will be staying at? The rents alone can cost somewhere between $450-$800. You can share a house with multiple roommates, but that means you will have no privacy and might not work out for you.

In general, have at-least $800 a month to support yourself.

Good luck!

Cannot rely only on part time work to support yourself, need to assume you will not walk into any part time job straight away if at all so should budget on that basis as will likely be a lot of competition for those part time jobs. Generally on top of fees many people use a benchmark of 10 k cdn a year for living expense as a minimum.

Yes, Providing you have all documents of enrollment into new course
ii) Is there any chances that my visa can get rejected?
If everything is OK then you should get visa but there is no 100% gaurantee of anything. I have seen people with 8 band in IELTS getting rejection

They treat everyone equally. whether you r in UoT or Northern college

If you work legally that is only 20 hours per week on your Social Insurance Number then minimum you make is $11/hour and after taxes its not enough. if you really want money then you will have to work on cash and range is 5-14/hour and for 14 they make you work really hard. I agree with others that you need about 800-1000 CAD per month providing you live reasonably basic life

A big thank u to all of u frnds for giving me such valuable information.
My another query is .....After how much time and how much money I can withdraw from my GIC account? actually I just paid my 1st semester fee and my college will start in first week of September. I ll have to pay my 2nd semester fees in very immediate month(due date is 1st nov). so, should I manage both semesters' fees before going or I can pay fees through GIC account?

I am not sure if you have a visa already and if you are aware about PoF for international students, but there are minimum requirements for funds http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-how-documents.asp#doc3. This partially answers your question, I guess - CIC has already thought about your possible expenditures.
Unless you show these money in advance (when applying for visa) or clearly explain from what sources you'll get them, it is impossible to get a visa. And part time job won't work out as a proof.
I'd assume the worst scenario - you have no time to work while studying, you still need to have some money for living. If you can manage combining studies and work - good for you!

They would give you 2000$ when you arrive (not sure about this part) and rest of the money after every 2 months - from your GIC account.
As you mentioned, second semester will start in November and thats when you have to pay the fees. (may be before couple of days of your semester start date - some of the colleges like Seneca accept 3000$ as partial fees and you can pay rest of it later - Some of the colleges charge late payment fees.)

Let me know you college name and I will try to find out answers about fees.

About living expenses, its totally dependent on the lifestyle you choose. If You share the apt/house/room than it will be lower (that's what i did when I came to Canada in 2013.)
Also, I would recommend you plan for the second 1-year program because 1 year program will give you 1 year of PGWP Which is not enough to get your Permanent Residency.
