hahahaha...and I though only us in Vancouver have a Subway (Skytrain) problem... ;D

what i hate the most is that they never give you an estimated time on when they think the train will be moving again...it could be anything between 5 minutes and 1 hour...and it has to be in the morning rush hour!!

What's expo line?

As stated above, here in Vancouver we currently experience a major problem with our Rapid Train system, called Skytrain. One of the lines is called Expo line..

I think that ranking was based on more than just the quality of public transit

What does this have anything to do with the limit accessibility and coverage of transit?

Well, gentlemen, you have probably not seen Calgary public transit yet after which even the worst day in Toronto transit will seem like a vacation.
Half of a line here is closed often for 2-3 consecutive days due to construction works. Sometimes you board the train and after a few stations the conductor announces in an incomprehensible asian accent (I am asian too - no racism here, but rather dissatisfaction with his English level) that he will not go further. You get out of train to take a shuttle bus and after you board it you realize that the bus will not take you to the destination because they change routes depending on time, e.g. After 7 pm and in weekends many buses operate reduced routes. I am not even mentioning dozens of homeless on public transit filling the train with such a strong smell of marijuana that you need to wash your clothes three times to eliminate the smell.

Calgary transit was down for several days this month when underground fire left half of downtown with no power and people had to leave homes. So as you see, it cannot be worse than Calgary ;D

They did it again today ....and of course in the morning rush hour...but after reading what you wrote about calgary, it seems we are having lots of fun here in Toronto

Come to Calgary for a day or two - and you will cry from happinness when you go back.
Apart from transit, power cuts are very common. My supervisor had no power for Several days because an unexpected snow fall in September broke quite a few trees which damaged power lines - schools were closed too.
Still having complaints about Toronto? :D

Perhaps you can enlighten us on what the other criteria used were?

The world's 10 best cities to live in, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit global “liveability” study, which looks at how “tolerable” it is to live in a particular place given its crime levels, threat of conflict, quality of medical care, levels of censorship, temperature, schools and transport links.
