To Cancel Temporary work permit

I hold canada temporary work permit which is tied to my current company. I have not used it till date i.e. I have never visited Canada.

I have resigned from my current company and will join some other company within India or somewhere else but it wont be Canada.

Is there any need to cancel my work permit from my passport. Is there any cancellation procedure of work permit even though we have not utilised it.

Please help me as I am not able to find anything on Canada Immigration website regarding the cancellation of the temporary work permit.

If you haven't used it by it's expiry period, then it's gone forever. No need to cancel it or do anything. How did you get a work permit without having entered Canada? I have always assumed that initial work permits are issued at the points of entry to Canada, except a few cases where one can change status but you'd still have to be in Canada.

I guess you mean the work visa emborsed to the passport not the work permit.

Yes its about cancellation of the work visa embossed on my passport. I am aware that the work permit is issued while inbound immigration takes at Canada.

No need no cancel. Or you can go to the Canadian Consulate or CHC in your area and have it canceled (canceled without prejudice)

i dunno if i'm wrong as i'm still researching the information and i can easily get confused. my friend who is in Jamaica got a job here in canada (lmo and work contract are good) and was told to apply for his work permit there in Jamaica, and that will ensure he gets his Visa at the same time (I found the wp application on cic online). Is this correct? We are having trouble with this as he is only a low skilled worker and we don't have any one with knowledge on how to properly apply (which application and what documents are needed).
