To Canada from ND - Lets Plan travel together

dear ankit,thanks for ur valuable inputs.yesterday i visited icici bank and found that they have branches in canada,so we can open our accounts and pof money through them easily.Manager of branch also told me that they also offer travel insurance for 90 days.Another point we should keep in mind is exchange rates banks offer for transferring our pof money in rupees.

Yeah, ICICI bank also offers the account to transfer money to canada and they also offer credit card and insurance on that. Info is available on icicibank.ca

But I talked to couple of different ICICI branches and they had no idea reagrding such services by their bank and recommended visiting sec 18 branch in Noida, so I dropped the idea using them

Finally I went with scotia bank for account and bajaj allianj for 90 day insurance

First of all kudos for starting the thread, well I, too,am planning to fly on 21apr. (we are 2)
Will be staying for couple of months and come back...then probably complete all the formalities here which would take some 5-6months and then will come to Canada for good.
Now my query is: What have you guys done for stay/accomodation? - Look for Studio 6 and safe home stay, they are being used by most immigrants

How to carry the PoF, can we take along the Bank statements, some amount in TCs and some in Cash? - TC, Draft, Cash is fine. Bank statement should be from a Canadain Bank where you should transfer money to Canada before landing. You can get it done from Scotia bank or ICICI Bank

Guys any info on this one.
And btw lets surely plan to meet up once we land in Canada

Anyways um' still in a dilemma as how to carry Funds.. cz as i would be coming back so don want to convert the whole of my PoF into Canadian dollars as when i'll be back will loose out on exchange rate.
any advice on the same would be helpful.

You need to prove at Port of entry that you have funds in Canada to use, that way you have to loose money on exchange rate in my opinion. What you can do though is what u need for your 2 months stay take that in cash and TC and rest take the draft. You can cancel the draft if you do not need the same while u were in canada

Do we require to fill Form B4 & B4A (i.e. with the basic items like laptops,cameras, jewellery etc. etc)
And does form IMM5444e has to filled for each of the applicant.

Yes You need to fill these forms with the items u have mentioned. 5444E needs to be filled for each applicant. Look at the following links for more details on forms that are needed at landing

Did you applied through normal procedure?

As per them it will take about 21 days.

Scotia Bank also open my account in seven days I submitted application on 15th March and on 22nd i got account opening letter
Just tell them you are landing soon .
I guess new delhi is fastest among others.
