"copying it from page 2 of medical instruction" this might be useful to you.

(4) What is included in the medical examination?

A medical examination by a DMP includes a mental and physical assessment, a medical assessment of records respecting a person and any additional test(s) the DMP or Canadian Medical Officer determines is necessary in order to reach an informed decision regarding your medical condition.

• All applicants 5 years of age and over must submit a urine sample.
• All applicants 11 years of age and over are required to have a chest X-rav. An x-rayis required for children under the age of 11 if medical history or clinical examination indicates there is a need or if there is evidence of tuberculosis in the family. Abnormal X-rays may require further views and additional testing.
• All applicants 15 years of age and over, and children under the age of 15, who have received blood or blood products, have a known HIV positive mother, or are potential adoptees, must submit a blood sample.

The fees for the basic medical examination range approximately:
• from Pesos 1,750 for children under 11 years to P3,000 for adults in the Philippines.
• from Yen 17,850 for children under 11 years to Y27.300 for adults in Japan.
The fee for HIV testing is approximately.
• 1,000 pesos in the Philippines.
• from 2,000 to 5,000 yen in Japan.

When exactly will your passport expire?

Assuming your med request is on April 2010, your visa will be valid until April 2010. If you're lucky that the visa is granted on july 2010 count six more months if you're passport is still valid ( that will fall on Jan 2011 ). In my opinion, there's a probability that the embassy will require you to submit a machine readable passport (MRP) or e-passport.

Sorry typo error, I mean visa is valid until April 2011.

u need to apply a new passport if it will be expired on 2010, and need to apply online now coz it took 2 months to get an appointment in dfa for renewal of passport.

sorry our passport will be expired on 2012

sad to say, yes, red or machine readable passport ang kailangan...anyways, me time ka pa, better do it now, my passports expiration date was nov 2011, i got my ppr last may 14...mabuti na lang, i already made an appointment last april 7 and and nakuha kong schedule ay may 12..haist, nakuha ko ang passport ko(expedite processing - 10 days worth 1200, na naging 13 days, dahil nasira daw ang printer ng dfa) ng may 28......and i sent it immediately sa embassy...kahit pa sabado kinabukasan......so probably ngayon pa lang un idedeliver...may nakalagay sa passport request letter na dapat machine readable na...kaya, mas dapat paschedule ka na habang nagiintay ka pa, dahil ang bagal ng dfa... >:(
