So I called CIC again but this time I was sneaky and played along with the misunderstanding that I am calling from Canada. The agent after verifying me said my permit has been approved. It was approved on August 31st, 2016 they are just waiting to print and it can take 5 to 10 business days. This is ridiculous as hell, why is printing something and sending a letter to request passport taking ages. I can't fathom this. I am so unsure whether I must make a paper application or not.
That is so unfair and inconsiderate, I cannot believe it. We are about to lose our admissions and they don't care!

Have you lived in Canada before? If the addresses and phone numbers are in file then you can do that too... and I understand what you're going through... I feel like a retard doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. They must be ashamed of themselves... lost sleep and lost the whole meabing of life and feel like a slave of their decision...

No I never went there, this is my first time. But I have to be there within 10-12 days Max, failing to do that will result that I will completely lose the offer. Because there is no deferral for Masters, I will have to reapply next Fall and that would be pointless because I will be stuck in the same process. Universities take a very long time to send out the decisions, and then the visa is ridiculous.
I personally paid for my final acceptance letter to ship it from Canada as fast as possible, and I applied 1 day after it was delivered to me, and still I am stuck with this after more than 3 months. There is nothing I can or could do about it, it's not my fault. But no one cares or wants to understand this...

On a side note by the way, isn't the 5-10 business days period already passed since they approved your application on 31st August? why didn't you tell them that?
Unless they meant 5-10 days from today which is stupid and pathetic.

I also forgot to mention, I contacted VFS this morning. After a long 15 minutes conversation of me complaining and explaining my case. They kept saying there is nothing they can do, and asked me to send an email for them explaining the issue and they will forward it. I informed them that I already did this and received no response, they simply said "then send us another one and we will forward it again!"
Then they asked me to contact the embassy by phone, I told them that I tried that like 100 times but all I get is an answering machine, there is no way I can talk to anyone, I asked them to call and inquire on my behalf, and they said that this is not possible.

At the end I offered to at least submit my passport to speed things up when I get the approval and they said "we recommend that you don't submit your passport before receiving an update about the application" and that they can't take it unless I have a passport request (I remember people said they did this somehow?).

So I gave up and disconnected. Then 10 minutes later I received the following email from VFS:

"Dear Applicant,

Greetings from the Canada Visa Help Desk.

With regards to your query, kindly note that your application with reference number xxxxxxxxxxxx is under process with the Canadian Embassy.

The Embassy is conducting verifications which are taking longer than anticipated. In certain cases, verifications are conducted with officials in the applicant's home country or in Canada which can take time.

The Visa Officer will not finalize the application until he/she receives the results of the verification(s). You will be contacted by the Canadian Embassy as soon as your application decision is nearing finalization.

We hope the information provided to you is useful. If you need further assistance feel free to contact us.
Thank You,"

Long story short, VFS is useless...

They are all useless I swear. I already have a study permit. I just needed a trv to re-enter Canada. My Master's admission will be revoked next week and I'd have to reapply for Fall 2017. It is so stressfull to wait for another year. The only leverage Queen's gave me is that for re-application, I wont have to submit my transcripts, references and SOP again, just the online form. But of course I'll have to pay the registration fee as well as seat reserve deposit again, IF I get admission. Although my administrator assured me that they have never refused previous applicants, but you never know, right?

So the conclusion is that I have given up, for now at least.

Yea you're right. I just said in my final decision not yet started.... to be honest it's just their excuses... he did say it was approved on AUG 31ST so surely 10 business days have lapsed. They're really bad... people are suffering because of them and they care so little to be honest.

Although it is 'approved' I still don't have the peace of mind. How much more lazy can you be in asking for a God Damn passport? It's very bad I swear they have no shame or consideration. I feel it's going to be one of those cases where there is no reply ever and that breaks my heart in pieces no one can count.

I am also going to Queen's for my masters, (or maybe not anymore?!). Which department told you that?
Because they gave me until the end of September, and I never discussed the option to reapply or anything because I am too stressed and scared about it. But IF they really assured you that they never refused previous applicants, that's slightly comforting, although it's not the best thing I've heard in my life. Cuz it's not fair we got accepted and we applied as soon as we got the letter, still we get left behind for no reason after more than 3 months. It's also worse for you as you have the permit already... I think CIC is full of sloths

They must be. And they are understaffed and overwhelmed as well. It was stupid of them to move temporary resident visa applications from Pakistan to Abu dhabi. Everything was working fine until last year when they hadn't moved.

Anyway, I am enrolled in Master of Public Administration so School of Policy Studies' administrator told me that. My program involves so much networking through seminars, conferences, speakers, study tours and what not, beginning from mandatory orientation, so I have pretty much missed 2 weeks already. Stepping into 3rd week on Monday, even I am unsure whether I will be able to cover that much or not. That's why my administrator said that it will get difficult.

My Program Director told me as well that they have never refused previous applicants in my Program. I really hope that you get through before the end of September though.

I don't even know why after an approval they're taking so long to move ahead. The next step obviously is request the passport. More than Abu Dhabi it's just whole CIC which is acting funny this year. Maybe that's why applicants within Canada are waiting so long as well...

Processing applications from this many countries in Abu Dhabi is a stupid decision, especially that most of these countries have their own embassies, consulates, or VACs, I can't find an understandable reason for that. It's just making it longer and harder for everyone, including people in Abu Dhabi embassy.

I was also hoping to attend the orientation week. I can't explain the feeling of anger that was going through me while it was happening over there and I am just sitting here behind a screen checking my visa status over and over unable to do anything about it...
I am going for Engineering though. And they told me I have until the end of September, although they expressed that it will be challenging for me to catch up (as if the whole experience itself isn't challenging already). I hope they have have the same policies regarding previous applicants as yours, just in case.

Yea pals, I feel more and more isolated. Like I stated above I feel like a retard who does the same thing (checking visa status on GCKEY account ) over and over again and expecting a different result. Totally hooped anddoomed. I feel so bad I can't even tell you.
