Tips for a successful BOWP application

I have my application ready to go and as I don't have experience at applying without the help of an Immigration Consultant, could someone help me check if what I have is ok???

- Letter of explanation
- AOR
- IMM 5556
- IMM 5710
for EMPLOYMENT I included my activity in the last 10 years, including the years I was studying, is it correct?
- online receipt
- Photocopy of passport
- Is the current immigration document my current WP?
- Should I check any item under RESTORATION OF TEMPORARY RESIDENT STATUS?
visa and WP expiring in June 20134, applied for CEC in December 2013.

Any help is appreciated!

I checked 'New Employer' and got it approved. Guess it doesn't make a difference for BOWP applications, as the BOWP
is an open work permit anyway. I know of people who checked 'Same Employer' and also got the BOWP approved.

I understand what you're saying about the 'same employer' check box but what about the eligibility questions we have to fill prior to apply for the BOWP, when they ask if we have a job offer? If we are currently working and will continue to work for the same employer, should we say we have a job offer or no?

No, you don't need a job offer for the BOWP. In case of a BOWP application, CIC doesn't care who you work for or
what the job is - it's an open work permit.

Hi,

For us it was 19 days between applying and having it approved.
I've applied on Feb 8th for a BOWP for myself, for an open work permit for my wife and for a visitor record for my daughter.
Both are approved on Feb 27th and the status of the application is closed now.

I'll update you when I'll receive them via mail.

I applied online, it's really easy and quick. And yes, my WP expiry date was within 4 months. I'm not sure if you could apply before....I know that some people made it having the AOR but there is no guarantee.

Correct, after the changes to the OB485-A, chances are that applications without AOR or with work permits valid for more than
4 months are going to be rejected.

Hi everyone..after going through a dilema - to apply for a second BOWP or not (coz my current one expiresmid may)..I decided to apply for one end of this month..but the thing i am having doubt about is in the questionaire, they ask if i hv done medicals in the last 12 months? ( I am planning to do Med nex week), and in the docs checklist, they ask for medical proof according to my personal checklist

but If i choose the NO option, they ask me if I have lived in a particular country or intend to work in particular job,and when I proceed with those , there is no med confirmation document required

Now what should I do? should I say I din't do the Medical and proceed or do I have to provide some proof of my medicals?

I only have the option to upload Schedule 1 and/or the Explanation Letter (that will already include my AOR and current Visa)....

Also, I believe I don't have to upload Schedule 1 once I'm applying within Canada and also I didn't belong to any military or government service, right? Please confirm this - Appreciated.

Hi,
I had/have only 2 employers in the past 10 years, but my wife had more and also more unemployment periods. For her we filled an additional page with the PR package, so this time I'm not and we got approved. But if you're the applicant maybe it's better to fill up the additional page and upload it e.g. together with the Explanation letter - just scan them together in one file.

About the Schedule 1 I'm not sure, hopefully somebody will answer this to you soon.
