Tips for a successful BOWP application

I've received our new Work Permits and the Visitor Record for my daughter via mail today!

Applied online on: 8 Feb, 2014 (BOWP for myself, OWP for my wife and a new Visitor Record for my daughter)
Get it Approved on: 27 Feb, 2014 (received an email from CIC, 19 Days including weekends)
Received via mail: 4 March 2014

Correct, after the changes to the OB485-A, chances are that applications without AOR or with work permits valid for more than
4 months are going to be rejected.

That is correct, I applied within 5 months and got rejected even with explanation letter so save your time and money

Hi,
If you do it online (MyCIC) and check your eligibility they'll create your checklist based on your case and dependents.

For us it was like:

For myself, as an applicant:
IMM5710 form,
Marriage license / certificate,
Family member proof of status (I've scanned my wife's current Work Permit and my daughter's current Visitor Record in one file),
Passport or travel document (I've scanned my passport - all pages - and my WP together in one file)
Digital photo
Use of a family member Representative for online applications - IMM5713 (because of my wife and my daughter)
Explanation letter (Explanation letter and AOR scanned in one file)

For my wife:
IMM5710 form,
Passport or travel document (I've scanned her passport - all pages - and her WP together in one file)
Explanation letter (Explanation letter and AOR scanned in one file)

For my daughter:
Passport or travel document (I've scanned her passport - all pages - and her Visitor Record together in one file)
Explanation letter (Explanation letter and AOR scanned in one file)

The Explanation letter was the same for all of us, I just mentioned all of us in it, but I've uploaded for all.

In your document or in file u did not upload photo isn't? And how much MB all those file we can up load thank so much, there is limit or no? And must be in PDF?
I will prepare mine to cos my WP end by September 30, is time to apply better in may or June 1?

I've uploaded a digital photo as JPEG.
I don't remember the limit but probably it'll say if it's too big. I tried to keep the sizes around 200-500 KB and it worked.
The documents must be in PDF as I know, but it's easy to do.

Yeah, as soon as your WP will expiry within 4 months you're good to apply.

The photo should be 68kbs or more.
And files can be either PDF or Word. What I did for my first BOWP was I put my explanantion, and pasted my old work permit and my AOR email confirmation all in one work doc and uploaded it.

You can apply for sure, but chances are your application will be rejected as you are not eligible.

I've read before in this forum that when applying for the OBWP we should leave the information about our employer in blank, but what about the question about our employment history? Should I say where I'm currently working? I cannot just leave it in blank, right?

Correct, employment history and current employment ( if applicable ) has to be filled out. Information about future employer can be answered with 'BOWP - Not Applicable' or so.

As I am currently working and my contract only ends in 2015 I'm not sure what should I put in the end date. Can I leave it in blank?

You can put todays date in the 'to' field, that's what I did.
